I am trying to decide between an 03 MACH 1 and and a 03 SVT Cobra vert. The 03 MACH 1 is listed at $13,000 but the sell will let it go for $11,500.

The 03 Cobra vert is $15,000.

I am leaning towards the cobra. But both seem like good deals. Also Carfax and Autocheck check out okay on both.

 

I don't think you could go wrong either way. Both are priced fairly reasonably. The only warning I can give you about the Cobra is that you will see a ton of chassis flex on any 94-04 Mustang convertible, I'm sure the extra power doesn't help it either. I personally am not much of a convertible fan but then again I don't live in California... that being said go with the Cobra. It is pretty much the best performing 4th gen Mustang (excluding the rare 2000 Cobra R) ever. Let us know how you make out and good luck!

If the Cobra is the real deal then go with that, it's a very good price and convertibles are a ton of fun! If the Cobra does in fact turn out to be too good the Mach 1 is awesome!

 

Either one is fantastic.

I am biased to the Cobra, but I don't like convertibles...so I am very torn on this question.

Cobra is better all around car but the Machs are awesome drag cars, that being said the vert cobra is faster at the strip but you could risk half shafts breaking and you certainly won't break anything on a Mach.

 

If I get the cobra I may do a SRA swap. I do go to the strip about 1 per. month or so.

 

IF you go to the strip a lot beef up your half shafts or do the SRA swap. These IRS Cobras don't like slicks.... Since you express interest in the track the Cobra is a better starting point than the mach 1. I have an 03 Cobra and I'm simply amazed how well these cars respond to mods.... I think you may have already found your answer on what to choose.

I would say a 2003 Cobra so you can get Sonic Blue

The Azure Blue Mach 1s are nice, too.

Mach's are great cars, but at that price the Cobra is hard to resist. You got power, forged motor and just all around great car. Beign a vert, and you stay you like to go to the track....... SUBFRAMES ARE A MUST. Dont go cheap either with ebay knock offs. Something like Kenny Brown extreme matrix kit (if you can find it) griggs, maximum motorsports are all top notch.

 

I'm gonna be the outcast and say the Mach. The cobra looks to be a great deal but I would be weary of it at that price. I can't say I've loooked at what they are going for since around last year but the price seems a bit low to me. The Mach also has the sra and is a coupe which will be better the drag racing in terms of chassis strength and weight.
And for the extra 4K you could put a blower on it and be at the very least as fast as the cobra. Just my :2cents:

It really is, I think I read on here that the 13's are going to get the grabber colors though. That will be sweet!

 

I did look at the MACH 1 today. The seller said if he didn't sell it he would just keep it. I think the seller would regret selling it.

 

As much as I like the cobra, I think going with the MACH 1. The seller of the cobra doesn't seem that motivated to sell. The seller of the MACH 1 will let it go for $10,750. He is getting stationed in Italy so he needs to sell it.

 

As a mach 1 owner I woud say cobra. Nohing against the mach ones because they are nice cars. The Cobra offers more imo. Of course price is everyting and car condition maters. This is not easy.
I have no regrets buyingmy Mach one. I love this car and I know its old technogy.

 

Everyone has a supercharged 03 cobra. Why not get the Mach throw a procharger under the Hood an have a just as fast or faster car than the Cobra for only a little more money if not less depending on where you get parts. I see more cobras than Machs in TX. An I've only seen 1 supercharged one. Black on black maan it was mean looking. Quiet exhaust. Just a whine an some tail lights

 

I assume a supercharged mach when you say "1 supercharged one" ??
