Looking at a 99 Cobra
Looking at a 99 Cobra
So im seriously looking at a black 1999 cobra that looks to be a pretty good deal. 5sp, black, 100000 miles (about 5000 on a rebuilt motor set up for boost), DD bullitt rims, new 315 rear tires, and in great shape except for a small crack in the rear bumper. Can i get some objective ideas about what you guys think it should be goin for?
You all musta known i couldnt stay away from the stangs for too long...

Well... I've seen other 99 Cobras sell for as low as 14K, with around 70K miles on it, and there was nothing wrong with them.
But considering the motor is freshly rebuilt and set up for boost, maybe that can outweigh the minor cosmetic defect. Start offering in the mid-teens and see how it goes
Hope you get it
I love the '99 Snakes

Ok. So you know the '99's had problems, didn't you? Ask the owner if he knows whether or not they repairs have been done. The intake was to be exchanged by Ford for one that had been extrude honed, the exhaust was also to be changed by Ford and there was one other thing but I can't remember what it was. I want to say it was something with the rearend.
Ya I knew they werent making the advertised 320hp, hence the lack of '00 cobras. I asked him that yesterday but am waiting for an email back, along with a really detailed set of pics.
Tired of wearing the Bowtie already?
Or do you plan to keep both cars? "Fixed" or not, I'm sure the mods and parts available for this car will address the problem areas (well, except for the intake). The built motor sounds good, just find out if it is a reputable shop/tuner and exactly what kind of parts were used in the build-up.
Got a rate quote for the insurance of this vehicle yet? I heard "SVT + Cobra" =
rates... Good luck.

Its hard to get tired of LS1 power...
I am kinda worried about the insurance though, two years ago a friend of mine got a quote for 9500 a year since they said repairs have to be done at svt dealers with svt parts, and being young they just bend you right over. Im planning on buying it and storing it for the winter, where the camaro is now and then sorting things out in the spring. Cant really lose either way since any kind of eprformance car brings a pretty good premium up here over the american prices.

Its a no-go now, too many flags came up when I was doing the homework on it. Having trouble getting financing for a car outside the country, different names for the emails from the guy I was talking to, what he told me his name was, and a different name on the title of the car. Overall, not worth the risk... too bad though, I really wanted it.
Looking for a nice deal? Look at this NY's

My friend was looking at it but the dealer wont touch his Hummer.

Hmm, I like the Cobra R look, but it doesnt say anything about the mods that make it 'really fly'.
Ive got my eye on a supercharged 98 SS right now. I like my Z28, but I really wanted the SS... and 475rwhp is pretty **** tempting too... A TA WS6 is in the works as well, so we'll see what happens.

I have talked to a few people and they dont like the fact that it looks like a Cobra R but doesnt go like a Cobra R. I can understand where they are coming from in a way but I think it is a great price for a great looking car. My friend spoke with the dealer who said the engine was stock.
Hmm, it seems your conversion to "the Darkside" is almost complete!
Anyway, hope the other vehicles work out. Seriously, I wouldn't mind the WS6 T/A or an SS. Or maybe the engine/tranny combo to drop into a FD RX7...
Too bad about the Cobra. Give in to your anger... strike him down! J/K!!!
