Long term storage on jack stands

Hi,

I'm new on this forum. I bought a 2003 Convertible GT Back in September and I need to winterize it for about 5 months. I think it would be better for the tires to put it on Jack Stands. The question is: Where should I place the jack stands? Under the body frame to free up the suspension or Under the axles to prevent any bending of the frame?

Thanks!

This might be an easier option . . . .
Amazon.com: Race Ramps (RR-FS-10) 10" Wide Flatstopper (Pack of 4): Automotive Amazon.com: Race Ramps (RR-FS-10) 10" Wide Flatstopper (Pack of 4): Automotive

Thanks for the idea but I also wanted to lift it to keep mice away! I am storing it in a garage with a dirt floor.

Yea I would put the jack stands on the spots where you put the factory jack. Suspension hanging.

I would keep the suspension loaded if I were to use jack stands for storage.

Thanks for the answers but can you elaborate on the benefits or potential problems between loading the suspension or leaving it hanging? My first thought would be that freeing up the suspension would be good for my brand new shocks!

ALL Collectors keep their cars on there tires. Not an issue for new tires these days. If you are that worried get a pair of old rims and put on a set of tires for storage.

This is my opinion too. Not an issue for modern tires.
I will not even bother to put my spare set on this year. I usually don't.
I have never had a problem and I have been doing winter storage each year for the past 20+ years.

I also store mine for about 4 months over the winter without lifting the car. No issues here. But I do it in garage with a concrete floor. Not sure what a dirt floor might add to the party. If you are worried about mice would jack stands really keep them out? Those little buggers seem to go where there is food, warmth, and a place to nest. Might want to add some chemical deterents to keep them away.

Jack stands will not keep mice away.
With a running start, some can jump up almost 2 feet. Over a foot without.

I left it on tirés. The garage is not heated so it might be too cold for little rodents. I've put some peppermint oil on cotton ***** inside the car, in the mufflers tips and underneath the car: I read somewhere that mice don't like it! If I catch a mouse with good breath, I'll know it doesn't work...

The cold will cause the mice to look for nesting options, and your car is a prime target. Jack stands won't deter them in any way, you could suspend your car in mid air and they will still turn your car into a winter resort.
I found that dryer sheets placed in strategic spots work well to keep the mice away. One in the glove box, a few under the seats, in the trunk, even in the exaust pipes. And your car will smell April fresh in the spring.
