Well it had to be done. I was sitting at a stoplight waiting ever so patiently to move on to the next. When all the sudden this BRIGHT yellew brand new RX-8 is revving its engine, rolling up to the light.

The light goes green (with him rolling), I get on it in first.....loosing traction...
but it doesn't matter punch it into second and zoom zoom on past him. I know he was mad. I tried to shoot the nod at him as he turned off to the right at the next light, but he wouldnt look over, he just turned real quik.

Chalk up another kill for the mustang family, atleast I was real happy with this one as I didn't know how those cars would do with such a low curb weight, unlike when you run (and don't even have to get on the gas to win, but you always do to get away from that fart pipe muffler he's got) a honda civic.

But the GT got him, and got him good

Well-two things (and you guys are going to hate my socially responsible and balanced view on this one).

First, speed and acceleration are NOT everything. The RX-8 owner should know better than to race a GT. That car does not excel there-you guys need to go out on some curvy road where the Mazda would dust the Stang (Zoom Zoom) or as Will Smith says "gotta stick to what we each do best".

Second, you ARE breaking the law and it IS racing even if you are not breaking the speed limit. I checked with my father in law (CHP, Ret) and the definition of racing is "Two or more vehicles engaged in any form of performance competition/comparison on any public road" (acceleration, cornering, top speed etc).

Now, I am just as guilty as the next guy (yeah-usually guys), but does not hurt to know what we are doing when we are doing it.

And you know-come to think of it, killing a RX-8 is not really that big of a thing...

Seems you missed the point of him being at a roll and me at a complete stop wich made it so funny for me... Nothing like popping someones bubble..

Don't belittle my win.

PS. I'll race you any time you like... :notnice:

Point taken-though I would classify it as an observation vs. anything else.

I would, but I don't race my cars...none in my family does, which is why my dads 67 fastback still runs like a top, my wifes 68 Vette is such a sweetheart and my Stang will be like new in 15 years.

im not gonna preach. I will usually race at the drop of a hat, but only if the conditions are right. No other cars around, pretty remote location. It up to you to endanger yourself, but dont put others around you at risk. woops, i did kinda preach.

you're young so ill let it pass. Its not about cops, or getting in trouble, its about physical danger. I know everytime i do something i may get a ticket, but I do my best to make sure the only person i hurt is myself. cops are doing their jobs, and I love to see streetracers busted, as long as it isnt me. Then again, i dont really have to outrun the cops, just the guy next to me.

I have nothin against racing and you only live once, but if it is really bad with traffic it is a no no an dif there is cops around it is a no no. Otherwise go for it. Some ppl are more willing than others, so if you are scared or believe u r in danger stop. IMO

An RX8? That guy deserved to be dusted. Did he really think he had a chance? Sounds like he was mad. I think some of these guys are clueless about the potential of their cars and/or the salesman tells them it's faster than it really is and they buy into it.
I had a guy in a Maxima rev at me while I was minding my own business at a stoplight last week. It was after midnight and no other cars in sight. He floored it when the light turned green. I ran it up to 60 and he was pretty far back in my rearview mirror. I don't think he was planning on winning. Most of these guys just get a kick out of watching your car run. Then there's always a couple of silly ones with no clue about the potential of our stangs.
Anyways, congrats on waxing the RX8. I'm sure he'll think twice before he challenges another mustang.
