Intake Manifold Inquiry
#1
SO I am blessed with the all plastic manifold which has cracked around the thermostat housing and is leaking coolant. Nothing a little RTV couldn't remedy but it needs a more permanant fix. No, Ford will not replace it, it has too many miles and is to old and what not.
I can get the alluminum/plastic manifold from autozone for $230 but I'm hoping to do a little better. I found the P51 intake but it is a whopping $1300, a little over the budget of a lowly A1C like myself. I did notice that the P51 is also the manifold and throttle body all-in-one.
Is there a more mid ranged upgrade out there and I'm just missing it?
PS Scothew smells funny

Personally, I wouldnt do the p51 intake on a stock motor. I would just get a stock replacement with the aluminum crossover. What year car do you have? If it is a 96 to 98 it may be a good time to do a pi swap as well.

Yes, I know I can look on ebay, did, close in price and just more convenient to go to "The Zone"
And at the expense of sounding stupid... what is a pi?
Never mind I spok too soon, Google is my friend.
Sounds nice I just don't have the 500 bucks right now.

Yeah you have to swap heads, intake, and a few other things. The power increase on a 96-98 car is great, due to the higher compression.

Ahh, but later in life I would like to add a turbo or two. Yes I know that superchargers are the induction of choice among domestic cars. I just like turbos.

turbo's would be great, but yeah the PI swap tends to raise the C/R up to high for forced induction use.

Yeah well the wife already shot down the idea of the bottle. I even said,"What if I just never have it filled ::wink wink::" I probably shouldn't have winked, she saw right through me.

Never ask the wife about mods, just put them on and deal with the wrath later. You'll catch heck, but you'll have the mods!

LOL, wise men also have comfy couches for a good nights rest to get up early to install the mods. If you are looking 230 for the intake from the "Zone" why not rig it for a little longer to save up the extra cash for the PI conversion?

My wife says: "a beating usualy last longer than a tounge lashing!"
I've been trying to convince her to let me get my borla/bbk setup for the last month but still she won't budge... she keeps saying "how about we get a house before you get more car stuff..."

for the intake you need the heads w/ cams as well though. The PI intake will go on your heads, they just need modifications.

They make a kit now for it to fit on standard heads. The manifold by itself is about 200 dollars I think but the whole kit is 500. Says it'll fit under a strut tower brace and stock hood as well which is important because I have both.

Nope, still married........................for now!
Ya know, it's funny, she complains when I drop a few hundred on the car, yet when I drop several hundred on her for jewlery or something, she is o.k. with it!
