Installed a Mach 1 Chin Spoiler
#1
I was told in late April that Mach 1 Chin Spoilers would be available by now. I've called four different places and the word now is July or maybe August. Does anyone know of one to be found?
A new one, not an ebay used one.

so are you saying that you can't get them through ford?. that seems a little odd. try going to an auto body shop and asking if they could get one. I don't have a mach1 so i don't know how they are attached to the front bumper.

You should be able to find a new one on Ebay-and usually less expensive than other means. I purchased mine from a private owner who bought one and never installed it and he got it to me for 75.00 including shipping. I just did a search on ebay "mach chin" and there is a guy in NJ selling a new OEM for 90.00 shipped with Buy it Now. Another guy has one for has one for 95.00 shipped, but his starting bid is 59.00 so you could save some money there as they are not a really sought after item now (you will need to search for that one as "mach spoiler" as the title does not have the word chin in it)
The other option you have is to purchase through a Mustang store. Most medium to major metropolitan areas have at least one and most will ship direct to you if you are not close enough to drive to them (I am lucky, I have a full service Mustang store 10 minutes from my house). If you like you can go to www.sacramento-mustangs.com. They will ship one (OEM and NEW) to your door for $100.00 (in their search window type in chin spoiler
If you have any questions on the install, go ahead and PM me, as I have installed many of these. It seems like it would be tricky, but its not-takes about an hour. The biggest thing is to drill the holes in the right place (you will need a power drill). Some people say you need two people, but one can do it. And do not worry if there is no harware with the spoiler. You can purchase the body plugs you need at any car parts store for a couple bucks.

Mustang Racing Technologies (MRT) sold me one back in April. They might have some still.

Was it the CDC brand chin spoiler and did it come with the hardware? How did it look compared to your factory one?
Thanks for the info.

I paid $64.95 from MRT. I am not sure what the shipping charge would be, since I was at their shop in Michigan when I bought it.

Holy Crap, I called MRT and was talking to the sales guy and I had a couple of technical questions so the sent me over to Scott. It ended up being Scott Hoag who was the design team manager of the Bullitt and Mach 1. Great guy and gave me some good step by step instructions and a tip so I can avoid what others screw up on when installing the chin spoiler. He's even getting the extra screws/rivets that work best and adding them to the package for delivery. That's good customer service!!!! Oh, it's the Ford Chin Spoiler and not the CDC one. Scott knew everyone was running low so he ordered extras from Ford.

I ordered mine from the local Ford dealer. It was about $90 but I had the option to examine it or not buy it at all.
In addition, note there are no installation instructions. The few things I noted were the back ends of the spoiler line up with the front of the wheel wells, yet the front edge does not sit flush with the front lower edge of the front bumper. The spoiler actually sets back about 1/4 of an inch under the front edge.
I messed up the first time I put it on and tried to make the front end flush, then the back edges were not flush with the wheel wells. I then had to take it off and reinstall it. Opps. :bang:

That was the tip Scott told me. He said the #1 issue he gets are when people think it should be flush in the front and (it is actually set back a little bit) after they install it they see how it doesn't match up at the end by the wheel and they aren't too happy.

Copycat!! Like everyone said, make sure the ends by the front tire wheelwell are lined up right, that is the key! It takes two people, tape, and if your car is lowered at all, two jacks. Good Luck!

it does look good! One of the best body pieces for any 99+ in my opinion.
