An idea I'm tossing around- Mach 1 clone...

Hi, all, one idea that I'm thinking about in my head, as the title implies, is a Mach 1 clone. Now, about the body, I know about the front lip spoiler, sail panels, grille delete, the trunk honeycomb panel, and the wheels, but I do have a few things I need to clear up. One, can someone direct me to where I can find an exact replica of the Mach 1 hood? Also, is the rear spoiler the 35th Anniversary style, or is it something else? Finally, the side scoops, how can I replicate that look? Style, inserts... how do I do that?

Finally, I'm wondering if I can swap a '05-up 3 Valve engine into a SN95/New Edge body Mustang. Can it be done? I'd like to have a new engine in there, with the proper gears and tuning to get 20 MPG in the city. Any thoughts?

I can clear up a couple of those. rear spoiler is the 35th anniversary and the 2001-2004 spoiler painted flat black. Side scoops are the identical ones as the 2001-2004.

Sail panels? is that the c-pillar panels?

also the machs did not come stock with the honey comb rear panel. but it does fit it if you add it.

hood i don't knwo, someone prob makes a replica or you could buy a stock one from ford.

Sail panels are these things:

They're the same as the Bullitt's, right?
And the inserts for ths side scoops, are these the right ones?

Anyways, you get a for your answers so far.

yes i just ahve never heard the c-piller panels called sail panels. same as the bullitt.

The side scoops on the mach i beleive used the same inserts as the GTs..the ones you posted are the cobra ones.

Side scoop was not the question...hes talking about inserts in the scoop. Cobras didn't have the honey comb pattern like the Gts. I wasn't sure about the mach.

Oh, okay. I could have sworn that they looked smooth in the pictures. Thanks.

Now, can a 2005-up Three Valve motor fit into a 1999-2004 'Stang's engine bay? Do I need anything special, like custom headers and/or a custom K-member, to do it, or will it bolt right in? Would it make more sense to get one of these, or something like it?

Any engine swap can be done for the most part. The biggest problem is it is very expensive and time consuming to do so (probly be cheaper to buy a real Mach 1 than to buy all the mach 1 stuff and swap a 3v 4.6 into a 99-up gt) but if you insist on doing so this month's 5.0 magazine has a big feature on engine swaps from 79-up mustangs and some cool feauture cars like a fox body with a mach1 engine, a ford gt motor in a 05' gt and it tells you the basic issues involved in such engine swaps

If it's more expensive/time consuming to do the Three-Valve, then I might as well go the Four Valve route, then. It might be easier to do that...

any engine swap from 2v-3v 2v-4v 3v-4v will be time consuming and expensive because there's a lot of stuff that's specific to the cars that they came out of mainly the wiring harness they are non-interchangeable and some of the front engine like the timing cover

You might want to check out a high mileage v6 theyre really cheap nowadays since your changing the engine anyways and probaly the whole interior if your doing a full mach 1 conversion. Did you ever consider a 5.4 liter? Im pretty sure any junkyard will have it I know it came in the navi and maybe the f-150.

Yeah, but is the 5.4 fuel efficent? Can I get at least 20 in the city with those? (Provided that I give it the proper tuning/gearing, of course)

I am confused as to why you would want to swap a 3-valve into a '99-'04 body. The '03-'04 Mach1's already came from Ford with a 4-valve motor in them.

What am I missing?

The 3 valve is more efficent, its better on gas, the 3v makes 5 less hp but weighs less

3valve weighs less, makes same hp, uses 87 octane, better gas mileage.... whats not to love about the 3v?

3 is an odd number But seriously. Find out where you can get a mach 1 hood. i want one on my car too. But for you, you might as well get a real mach 1. i've seen some as low as $17.5k and some with 1000 mile for $30k

Allright, now I'm wondering, where can I get LED taillights for the New Edge Mustangs? I remember seeing a link to a website that sells LED taillights that fit into the OEM covers AND have sequential functions, but I can't find that site!

I thought about doing a clone with a ragtop. I remember they did those in the earlier days. Always like the 71-73 convertible with the Mach I package. Always looked great in the red colors offered those years.

I've completed, well almost completed a shaker hood/scoop mod on my '03 Centennial ragtop. Looks great! The only thing I haven't done yet is hook up the air duct to the filter box. Reason being, I have a K&N kit on it so I need to fabricate an enclose air box that utilizes the K&N filter. No big deal, I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. But the car "looks" great with the factory Mach 1 hood and scoop. I got them both via Ebay.
