Hard Acceleration

I have a 2002 GT. Every time I step on the gas from a roll it feels like I’ve just been rear ended. Any idea on what could possibly be causing this problem?

this is your first V8, right?
I think that's called "torque" and that's what a V8 is supposed to do

No this isn’t my first V8. Torque doesn’t feel like you’ve been rear ended.

I thought maybe you were joking, or bragging in sort of a sarcastic or obscure way, LOL

It seems to me the automatic transmission is the issue, most likely, if it's hard shifting. It could be an adjustment to the kick down cable that's needed.. if it's equipped with that, as I can't find good info all of a sudden on this... I wanna say they have one, but... Anyway if not that, then perhaps there's something internal wrong with the transmission. A fluid/filter swap may fix it, or it could be something worse, like rebuild/replace the transmission. Perhaps the torque converter. A nod to a possible driveshaft CV/U-joint issue, but not as likely. Axle isn't likely involved, but stranger things... It could possibly be some suspension issues, worn bushings or such. Motor mounts and transmission mounts. Unless there's an engine problem, that should be about it...?

I'd get it up in the air and inspect the driveshaft and axle first. Ensure there's no loose things happening. Also inspect the mounts for the trans and motor. You're looking for anything that could jerk the car about. If all's well on those items, you're looking at the transmission itself, probably.

Belated welcome to the forums!

thanks but I think it’s my torque converter. I have some issues that point to that
