Okay, it's been awhile so I'll start it up again. I would like opinions on cat-backs for an 04 Mustang GT. I had Flowmaster Force II's on my 97GT and liked them but they don't make them for the 04GT. So, I need to find something else. I don't need super loud, I like something that gets serious sounding when you gas it but sounds kind of mellow at cruising speeds.

I've had the same magnaflow mufflers on 2 cars now. (I had them cut off my GT and welded onto my cobra). They have a total of about 100,000 miles and still sound as good or better than the day I bought them. The sound is great. I love them even with the stock catted H-pipe. Its smooth deep and nice sounding under normal driving and then under WOT, they open up and roar. I have an O/R h-pipe on mine and its perfect sounding, but they sound even better with a X-pipe. I just helped The Rock 326 on this board install a Magnaflow catted X-pipe and Magnaflow catback on his 02 GT and it sounds amazing. I want the same X-pipe for mine now but cant afford it yet. I need to get some video of his car now since we did the swap.

Again this is all my opinion.

That sounds like a great endorsement. I'll need to price them, I know they run a bit more but if I remember correctly they have some serious build quality.

I voted Borla, but Magnaflow would be my second choice on the mod motors.

Thanks Scott!

Yea, I like the Magnaflow. I got the cat-back from partshopper. If you are registered with Stangnet, you get another $100 off. I paid $385 shipped to my door. It is an easy install, and bolts up real nice!

Yeah it seems like you wouldn't want some chambered flowmasters b/c of the drone. So I would reccomend magnaflows. However if I were ever to get magnaflows they would have to be the packs. The magnapacks are a LOT louder and sound great. But it's up to you.

i would go for magnaflows. had them welded onto my car when I had the stock h pipe, and they sounded great. but then I got the prochamber and it sounds awesome.

magnaflows are deep and not too loud when just driving normally, but at WOT they just scream! also made from stainless steel and have a great reputation.

I have heard the Borla Stinger exhaust on the 2005 Mustangs and it sounds amazing,

A good friend has MAC exhaust on his '01 GT and also sounds very good, but has a drone at highway speeds

Basanni.....I love mine and took about three months listening to as many combinations as I could find.

The final determination for me came down to performane weighted against sound quality. The Basanni catted X pipe for me had the best DEEP sound without being too loud. I did not really give up any other performance either. With a convertible it was impotant that it was not too loud.
