Exhaust ???

My cobra has the steeda mufflers or at least the exhaust tips say Steeda on them. I want to put the BBK Headers long tube, Is the x-pipe or H-pipe is better for performance and sound?

Disagree. H-pipe sounds much better, not as raspy and uneven. You will not notice a gain in horsepower between the two. I believe the hp difference between the X and the H might be as much as 5hp. Not enough to sacrifice the crappy Xpipe sound.

There are numerous exhaust clips on youtube.com that can provide you with a sense of sound for whatever exhaust combination you are thinking about for your car. While it is always nicer to hear an exhaust combination in person the clips on youtube.com will give you some direction . . . .

Pretty much like Al stated but here is my standard answer to the mid pipe:

the x pipe provides more power than the H. The x pipe balances out the torque curve while the H pipe is more for sound dynamics. When the exhaust gases pass the opening in the X this creates a low pressure area thus improving scavenging it does however have a lower tone than the h-pipe. The 90* turn the exhaust gases make for the cross over in the H pipe are more designed for sound vs performance.

I have not seen any dyno proven results that either produces more power, in my opinion it's just a slightly different exhaust note.

X or H is only based in personal choice. Do you like the raspy race car sound? Get the x pipe. Do you want a deep muscle car sound? Get the H pipe. Thats it. No noticeable power gains between the two.

I installed the X-pipe and I think it is better than the H-pipe. I got mine through ford racing

I like the X on 2v motors and H on 4v. Just my preference. Nothing else sounds like an X pipe 2v Mustang. One of the best exhaust notes ever on a car. You know what it is without looking.

The x pipe optimizes power at a higher rpm that's why most pony muscle car guys use it. The h pipe optimizes power at a lower rpm and that's why most truck guys use it, for torque. So really its what you are building your car for that why the x pipe will give you a few extra hp . I personally like the h pipe and the deep growl and YouTube videos will never give you the true sound of an exhaust system. So much different in person
