Exhaust
Which is the best in terms of performance and sound.
I figured I would ask the guys who already own mustangs. I've heard flowmaster and magnaflow and borla (a bit expensive IMHO). But I haven't heard anyone say anything about Bassani, are they any good? What is everyones opinion?
Thanks!

Oh boy, you opened a can of worms with this one. I have Flowmaster Force II catbacks. I like the improvement in performance and the sound. It's not loud at idle or just slow cruising but if you gun it, you hear it!
Bassani is nice, but I prefer magnaflow myself.
Just to add the third different opinion .. I like Borla quiet a bit -- which is what I ended up getting. They were a bit pricey, but not too bad. bassani would be in the same price range as the Borla.
I paid $405 shipped a few months back, but don't know if they are still on special or not.

How bout the catback from SLP? Does anyone have anything to say about that?

I think the cat-back would sound good with the stock H-pipe though.
From me brief experience with my 4.6, it seems that the exhaust note is touchier with the 4.6 as compared to the 5.0. Most systems sound darn good on a 5.0, but with the 4.6 (especially the 4-valve) the tones vary so much with each type of cat-back, and sound "thrashy" with a x-pipe as compared to an h-pipe.
I understand why, but am still amazed with the difference.

Hey Scott, I don't know if this is the clip you've seen but I came across this www.eastcoaststang.com/nitrolew.mpg :worship:
It's an '01 GT with comp cams slp exhaust. The engine has been modded quite a bit so it's probably not exactly what it what sound like. Sounds awesome for maybe a drag strip or showin off, but would probably be pretty hard to hear yourself think over it.

Borla, best performance/sound combo.
For second best, try any of the others.

Hard to gauge how loud it is.
I know I've been promising, but I recently just got a new laptop that can handle the streaming video from my camcorder better. In addition to ripping out some video of the 40th, I'll try and get a beter clip of my car. It'll be a Mach 1 (4V) with Borla and Stock-H.
Won't be today, but I'll try and make sometime this long holiday weekend if the rain will let up.

I've got a 2K GT and I was looking for something new and different so I went with SLP and contrary to popular belief with what I've heard from Mustang peeps they are awesome. Someone posted earlier that they are obnoxiously loud...this is true but I've got a 65 coupe with straight flow glass packs and it's friggin' murderous sounding however...my 2K with just the SLP Loudmouths just about matched its sound. If you just want the loudest catback...go SLP...they blow all others away guaranteed. With the H pipe I had on there (no cats) it was more or less the loudest car in town. I put the X pipe on it and it toned down a lot but I gained so much power from it with the catback. Just remember that your pipes need time to break in and when they do...hehehe. I couldn't be more pleased with my SLP X pipe and Loudmouth Catback and it's performance is unrivaled. When I return from my deployment I will complete the exhaust with SLP long tube headers.
Just remember...it's really about your own personal preference....what YOU want. I've heard the Borla catback, the Bassani, Magnaflow, Flowmaster...and the Borla was honestly too quiet and sounded too muffled, the Bassani was nice but just not enough oomph, and flowmaster...lol...I won't even go on. Performance is also a category to consider. Of the forementioned you may want to go with either Borla (stingers I guess) or the Bassani. Almost everyone in here has one or the other and they'd be happy to help ya out.

The great exahust question. I was asking that same question last summer - there are honestly so many, not too mention the variables (will you be getting on off-road mid-pipe or headers?) which will add differ sound also.
Before I got my Borla Stingers, I think I listened to over 100 differ sound clips online. After a while, I swear they were all starting to sound pretty much the same. I read forum after forum. But once I heard the Borla Stingers in person, I knew right then thats what was going on my Cobra. Point blank.
Since mine are coupled with an offroad x-pipe and longtube headers, I don't hear much of anything these days except my exhaust.
