Hey, Scott, was that graph above accurate?

I seemed to remember Dougs tune gave across the board gains, but looking at that graph its not that way, they kinda intersect. Wonder if Blake will send me the graph he had if I shot a few bucks his way for postage.

Posted here, hoping to get some info from them. If not ...

I should specifically mention, I am a satisified BamaChips customer. Its a mystery to everyone why we aren't seeing bigger gains.
Jeffery, here is the base vs run 6 that Doug did. Blue is base, Red is run 6.

Here is a good one. Base in green, vs run 6 in red, vs run 7 in blue.

I think the base value's would be good untill 4400 rpm, and then use the values from run #7.

The only thing I am questioning on the base vs #6 and 7 is your car sat for a few hours prior to the base run, and by the 6th and 7th, it was at a good full operating temp.

Im going to direct Doug to this thread so he can comment as well.

Something I have been informed of, is that places that have been getting insane gains are turning the knock sensor off. Im curious as to if that was done in this tune or not.

Jason had these numbers from a friend:

His Mods: http://www.stangheaven.com/
His Numbers: http://www.stangheaven.com/dyno.htm

Biggest difference is the O/R pipe in out setups. He gained 10rwhp and 16rwtq .. But once again, that could have been the o/r pipe difference.

Also, so all info is consolidated, my car *IS* pinging between 4000-4400RPM's when in third gear (so 70+ MPH). gets a good stutter and then disappears above 4400 RPM.

Yes, they did. I don't have the graph, but when Scott has some extra time, maybe he can add that to the run 7 graph.

Its not going lean. Doug has the a/f down perfect. He also took the car lean across the whole board and also tried it richer and neither made much of a difference.

Ford has two of them on this engine according to the programming. I did turn it off on one of the runs but it didn't net much. Something I didn't do was turn it off and then return the timing to completely stock to see what it would do. Either way it wasn't doing good.

As for the a/f I tried 13.0, 12.5 and even as low as 12.0 with no differences in the power production.

I've got a call into SCT with some major complaints about the programming for the n/a 4v's so hopefully I'll get something done about it.

Thanks!
Doug.

And, if I haven't posted this anywhere else, I do appreciate evrything Doug has been doing. Hopefully we'll work it out soon. This is an issues others have been having too, and we haven't gotten a answer from SCT yet.

Otherwise a stock below 4400 and run 7 above may be what I have to live with until SCT figures something out.

Doug sent me a program with STOCK with all knock sensoring turned off. It seemed REALLY good this morning, but I coulda been imagining things, plus it was nice and cool this morning as well (in the 30's).

Either way, down low it seemed nice and it pulled strong even up top. The knocking at 4k RPM was also gone. I sure wish I was near a Dyno to see if it did anything, or I have the TB spacer syndrone.

"The deal with Mach1s is they have good knock sensors that will very agressively add in timing. If you have good gas in the car and the EEC does not pick up knock then it will add in a ton of timing. The SCT tune will only get you a few more degrees timing over what the knock sensor is already adding in, not enough to show more than a few HP.

Conversely, I have seen some vehicles that will pull a bunch of timing out because the knock sensor thought it was hearing detonation, but really wasn't. I would put the timing back in, make a dyno run, pick up 10rwhp and never hear any detonation.

With the tip in spark retard turned off and the cat temp model turned off the car will run several tenths faster going down the track, regardless of peak HP gains. The shifts will be crisper and the car won't go pig rich halfway down the track."
Thoughts?

This is from my thrad I started over at SCT. SCT has only responded with more questions, so either they have no idea themselves, or are ignoring me.

I know I'm talking to myself here, but ...

I think there is some benefit to developing a better BKT and KS tables than what the SCT value file supplies. The exact way to go about this would depend on what the particular car is doing on the dyno.

You may just want to add a few degrees to the BKT and let the KS add the rest.
Latest response.

we should get him some custom bracelets w/ WWCND?

I believe the problem when it comes to tuning the tumble port headed 4v cars is due to a very agressive tune from the factory. They are close to maxed out and make good numbers all the way across the board. The torque curve on them is downright amazing compared to the 96-98 B-heads.

96-98 cobras take well to tuning. Here is my stock tune vs SCT tuned. The peak gains are good, but not amazing, but the numbers across the board make the car much much better.

Blue is stock, Red is SCT

And if you want to see a really interesting difference, here is the stock tuned baseline run of my car and also the stock tune baseline of Jeffery's mach1. This will easily show the power improvements the tumble port heads provide.

Blue = 1996 Cobra stock w/ mufflers
Red = 2004 Mach1 w/ CAI and Catback
