Changing starter on 04 gt
yea that third one is a bit of a drag. You will need anout a 6 inch extention to get to it.

The bolts are at 6, 9 and 12 o'clock positions. The 6 o'clock is the easy one. The 9 o'clock you can get with a long extension. The 12 o'clock position bolt cannot be had with long extensions or swivels. I used a socket and a short extension. Total length of socket and extention was 6.5 inches.

At least your car had all three bolts... When I took mine out the first time I searched for about 45 minutes for the other two bolts before I decided to just undo the one I could see/find. Then the whole thing fell on me.
I am completely convinced that at the factory they built the entire car around the starter.

Sweet baby Jesus I have made like 3 attempts to get that pita 12 o'clock bolt of. I have used all sorts of extensions and swivels. No luck for me. I may just take it to a mechanic and have them remove that one bolt. On the side note, when you do get it off LEAVE IT OFF. Its okay with just two. Also let me know how you did it.... I need to change my fang motor mounts and that ONE bolt is the only thing stopping me.
Edit: you can see the third bolt if you remove the passenger wheel and look between the k member and the body. You have to angle the flash light just right.

Talked to my mechanic today, I didnt even tell him what make and year the car was. I just told him I was having trouble getting to the third bolt, he looked at me and said let me guess it's a 04 mustang. I was like ****. He said he had his little special tool that he made to get to it.
