CATBACK Exhaust Question
#1
Well I am about to put a set of catbacks on my new 94 GT.
I was thinking of the Flowmaster Amereican thunder series with the Delta Flow 40 mufflers. Part # 17112 Also does this come with SS tips?
I have heard that these mufflers are loud. I want something that people notice (turn their head and look) as I cruise the neighborhood at 15 mph but not so loud as to wake the neighbors at 6 AM. What are your thoughts?
Any other ideas? Like MAC or Magnaflow systems. I will be installing myself so ease of installation is a pluse.
THANKS

You didn't mention them, but the Borla Stingers are pretty good for just that. get crazy loud at high RPM's, but very reasonable if you keep the RPM's down.
A little pricey, but the fit will be perfect.

I love magnaflow personally. I wont own another brand.
Flowmasters are the classic fox-body 5.0 sound we are all so used to hearing. They are also some of the loudest mufflers in the world. I believe the delta series is quieter than their other ones. I think it will sound good, but be warned, if you put a o/r mid-pipe on, its going to be loud regardless.

I agree about the Flows. With just a cat-back system and a stock h-pipe you should get a nice, not-to-loud sound but without cats forget about it. I think Flowmaster claims the Force II system (which has the Delta mufflers I believe) are loud at WOT but don't have the "drone" common with the regular Flowmasters, and they cost a little more.

Notice that you run MAC catbacks. That would be another option for me. How do you like them and whats the sound like. Thanks

I absolutely love them! They are VERY easy to install (using the lift at work I had the old exhuast cut off and the MAC system installed within my hour lunch break). I would compare the sound somewhat to Flowmasters, a good old fashion muscle car sound. At idle it is loud enough to be heard a fair distance away yet the cockpit noise is minimal. They sound awesome at WOT and still not to loud to be annoying and the cockpit noise is very bearable.
Right around 2000 RPM I get a little bit of "drone" but it fades quickly. (I cruise the highway around 1600 RPM so its never been a problem) The HTS black coating also looks awesome but can be scratched fairly easily. I think the mufflers are the chambered type like Flow's but I'm not positive. They are inexpensive, fit perfect, and there are no clearance problems. I hope that helps you!

Installed my MAC catbacks this weekend. I am very pleased with the look and the sound is EXCELLENT.
Seems like my car is a little down on power though after the install.
Maybe I expect more to go with the great new sound.....
