Carbon fiber does weigh less then fiberglass.. the reason that the z06 uses full carbon fiber front is the weight savings over fiberglass.

if you were buying the hood strictly for weight saving then carbon fiber should be the choice.. if you are doing it for looks then fiberglass would prob be better since it is less expensive.

Of Course Carbon Fiber weighs less than fiberglass....the simple point is that you may only save 5 lbs over something like an HO Fibertrends hood and if the price difference is $300 or more then it is not really a cost effective mod considering you can shed weight elsewhere and get more gain for less $$$.

But we are talking a Convertible here....if weight loss was the primary goal then a Fox Coupe should have been the car of choice and not a Convertible.

Well I've about made my mind to get a functional fiberglass 2000 Cobra R. I've been catching loads of flack from Paul at SVPU about the cf. OR maybe I'll just forgo a hood for now and get the 18x9 and 18x10 Saleens Pauls thinking I should go with.

Loads of flack? You haven't seen loads of flack yet . Really it's your car so you should do what you want....but I think the car just wouldn't look right with an unpainted CF hood on it but that's just my opinion.

Now the white Saleen wheels on a white vert with white top would look downright awesome!

I wouldn't paint it, if you buy it do what you want! do not listen to others unless they're buying it for you.

I'd say clear coat it if you want it "bare" just so it doesn't seem too dull.

Just my two cents. I think it looks awesome bare when it's real.
