Ran across this:
"I was in the process of beginning to disassemble what is left the blown
302 my buddy gave me. While looking through my rebuild manual I noticed
a chapter on engine identification. I was curious to see exactly when
and where it was made etc... etc... I still have the old intake manifold
and the number on it didn't match the number on the block that is cast
into the block itself (block no. "D9AE-6015-ED-23" . Unable to figure
out what these numbers stood for I called an reputable engine rebuild
shop. Good or Bad I found out that I own a 1977-1986 351 Windsor."
Try and find some cast numbers(block) and go from there.

lift up rear of the car.
mark a line on the driveshaft.
turn either rear tire one full turn
see how many times the driveshaft turns, example 3.5 revolutions is a 3.50:1 ratio.
