I didnt have to on the cobra. You might want to pick up one of the metal passenger side gaskets from ford. Its only a few dollars and a very heavy duty piece.

I'd like to hear an off-road x pipe with the borla exhaust...

But, does the borla one come with cats? if so, how easy are they to cut off?

I'm thinking about getting all this in one nice bundle... Headers, Midpipe, cat-back, cold-air intake, throttlebody, pullys, and maybe a tune... after all this I'm going to dyno and hope for close to 340, but it'll probably be more like 320. Even so, 260 to 300+ is a nice jump with keeping the N/A I want. Eventually, I want to get 400rwhp without swaping engines and without a s/c. THEN, I'd add the s/c! That'd be a mean machine!

Sadly you wont get to 400rwhp without a power adder or swapping motors. you will have to build a 5.4L based modular stroker out of a 4.6 and have stage II cams along with ported heads and intake. Even then you may be shy of 400rwhp.

yeah thats a nice idea but anyone can just say that. good luck though

I'm curious what power gains just the midpipes do? a few horses? Do you already have a cat back system panicpony?

I should be able to get 360 before the s/c though. Could I get turbos put in there? anyway, back to subject...

Midpipes alone shouldn't add too many horses maybe 10-20 at the very most...

I'd say mid-pipe is gonna give about 6-10 to the wheels.

You could go turbo's but it would be hard on a stroked out modular due to teh cylinder walls being very thing. You would be better off with a good forged 4.6L with ported heads, bullitt or p51 intake, blower/turbo cams and then going with teh turbo. Would make for a more reliable and streetable car.

Well, since I'm trying to get as much power as I can for under 2500, I doubt I'll be able to to much more than redo all the exhaust and intake.

about cats and emissions laws- cats are illegal to remove under federal law, no matter what state you live in you can't take working cats off and if you do replace them they are supposed to be stock replacement style. just FYI

I haven't heard of anyone around here who got busted for not having cats either but just so you guys were aware that its illegal... And actually cats reduce NOx and HC and the Pypes brand catted x-pipe only makes 2 horsepower less than their cat-less pipe. I'm sure the catted one is a lot quieter though.
