What's the best shifter to put in a 99 Mustang GT? My dad recently purchased one and he wants a shifter with a little shorter throw.

I've installed a Pro 5.0 and currently have a Steeda. Either one are excellent shifters. There is a "newer" shifter on the market and I can't think of the manufacturer at the moment, that is suppose to be excellent. However, you must use their supplied handle, as opposed to using a Hurst Stick and T-Handle that works with the Tri-Ax, which is the setup I installed.

There is a thread (somewhere) with this newer shifter. I will try and remember the name.

The best IMO is the Pro 5.0 power tower Shifter, but the ROUSH shifter is too notchy to shift aggresively

My Steeda is okay and I've also had good luck with Hurst.

Im running a pro5.0 and for along time, i had a tri-ax handle on it. It was very nice, but I recently put the shorter pro-5.0 handle back on and it is a much shorter shift. I've driven both pro5.0 and tri-ax cars and I think next time I will go with a tri-ax.

Just an opinion here, but I hated the triax I had on my 96 gt. As a matter of fact it stayed on the car all of about a week before I put the stock one back on and got rid of it.

has anyone heard of Blu Thunder Shifters? i saw an add in muscle mustangs and fords and have been lookin at different sites and at www.uprproducts.com is the cheapest for $100. all other sites are sellin them at $180 and my 95 GT 5-speed has a lot of trouble shifting into third gear. this spring i plan on replacing it, but the add says "-OffSet preload springs find 3rd gear for you, so you won't miss ever again!" you can check it out at

http://www.uprproducts.com/shopping/shopdi...?id=141&cat=Shi

let me know what you guys think, is it any good?

and one more thing, is it possible to not have a boot that goes all the way to the ****? because i don't really like the boot, i like it more old school. my dad has a 1964 Ford Falcon, and i love how the shifter has no boot. topped off with a sweet Hurst T-handle.

The blu thunder shifter are decent for the price i guess... But a tri-ax or mgw will definitely be a lot better of a shifter.

It seems like they're all $180......or $179.99.

I guess just for competitive prices sake.
