So...I've heard swapping in a manual from an auto trans isnt all that tough in the 99+ stangs. Just how is this swap and has anyone done it?

When the wife and i picked up the 99, we searched all over for a 5-speed but could not find one in the Red GT convertibles...only auto's.

 

Personally I have never done it, but I imagine there might be more to it that just the tranny. Possibly an ECU swap as well. The bracket and pedal assembly will also be a headache to replace. I'll do some research and see what info I can find on it.

 

dont do it unless u like hard work or paying someone alot to do alot of work just sell your car and buy a manual if u really want one

 

I agree with Charles, I think I'd sell it and find one with it already in there.

 

There is a piece for the clutch pedal u just pop out and then go to a junk yard or order a install kit and get everything from the tranny to the drive shaft (Just in case) make sure you get the pedals and the cable qaudrant, so on. should be done for like 3 grand at most. Good Luck!
