So for Christmas I got a CAI from American muscle. It's the generic brand that AM has made for the 1999-2004 gt. do I need to have a tune done? In the video it says "no tune required" but they tune it anyways. What would you guys do? Leave it without a tune, or buy a $250+ tuner.

 

Having a tuner is just an all around good thing to have. I say get a good tuner. You may need it later on for gears and or wheel/tire size changes.

Good question! Because of the diameter of the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor, the calibration for the MAF will be the same as the factory tune. An aftermarket calibration isn't required, but definitely recommended. The tune does alot more than just allow for the car to take full advantage of the intake, it changes the performance and the driveability of the car all the way around. In any event - you can go ahead and install the intake and check out the gains that you get from it. I would, in the near future, install our Bama custom tunes on the car and REALLY wake it up!
