97 Cobra's with coil overs
How is the ride?
I am wanting to soften the ride on my 97, right now it has H&R Super Sport springs with Koni yellow adjustable on the softest settings. And it rides pretty stiff, I plan on doing some suspension work and I was thinking maybe coil overs would give me what I want. I bought it back from my son and forgot how hard the ride was. My 2013 has spoiled me I guess. But I am thinking about selling the 13 and making this my daily driver, but not until I fix the ride. Thoughts? |
Coilovers, in my opinion, would do the opposite! I haven't heard of anyone softening the ride of any car with coilovers.
I'd suggest going to stock. Stock Springs and Stock Shocks and Struts. It'll have a lot more body roll though... Maybe check the tire pressure too? I run mine hard at around 38-40psi. Going down to 32psi makes a big difference for me in ride stiffness. The Konis are nice though and I probably would attempt replacing just the springs first and see if that makes enough of a difference for you. |

Another option is the Bullitt/Mach springs paired with a good strut/shock setup (like Koni yellows or Bilsteins). Those springs lowered the standard GT 3/4" which is a decent amount, but still provides a very compliant ride and clears speed bumps/driveways with ease. |
Thanks for the feedback guys.
