96' GT wont shift into and out of gears. NEED HELP

I need to know what to do to fix my car. Its currently not drivable because I cant get it out of second or 1st when the car is on. Only when it is off can i switch gears easily. Heres the weird part. In the morning, it worked fine. And when i just got off work to drive home, it did that. When the car is on and in gear, itll start going slowly by itself With the clutch pushed in. And the more i let out the clutch, the faster the car will go, with pushing the gas!! I really need some help..

Sounds like the pressure plate or the throw out bearing. Either way your trans has to come out.

Then whoever put the throw out bearing on put it on wrong. Happened to my buddies Evo. Did you do it, or did a shop do it?

If a shop did it, get it fixed and check to see if it damaged anything else...

Adjust the clutch quadrant under the dash. Easy fix. Transmission doesn't have to come out.

Alright so i dont have to replace my tranny?! Wooohoo! I love it. How much will all that stuff cost? And products i can use? I want it to be powerful, fast, and sounding awesome. I have the stereo under control but its under the hood i need to deal with. I want to supercharge it and get a 5.0 but thats a while off..i just want to accelerate fast and look good. Im doing a GT/Cobra conversion.

No your tranny is fine. You dont have to buy anything to adjust the quadrant. There is a video on YouTube that shows you how to do it. Takes about 30 seconds to do it.

/If it doesn't then take it to the shop and MAKE them fix it.

I just got an estimate with a transmission shop and they told me itd cost 350$ for labor to take out the tranny and they dont know whats wrong with it. I have to be certain that these parts will fix it. Or adjustments..
