96-98 vs 99-01 Cobra engine

Were there any differences in the 96-98 Cobra engines and the 99-01 Cobra engines? I know the heads were slightly different but anything else?

I know the 98 cobra block is aluminum. Also called the "teksid" block. Not too sure if they are the same blocks.

96-98 cars had what they called B heads. They had two seperate intake ports. One of which also had a butterfly plate on it to where it could shut air off to that port below a certain rpm to help increase low rpm torque.

The 99-01 cars introduced what they called C heads, aka tumble port heads. It was a one intake port design that got alot better low and mid range torque over the previous design. This design was used in the mach1 cars, and the 03 cobras, although teh 03/04 cobras had a different cam profile and think bigger flowing intake ports.

With the differences in heads, you had completely different intakes and most accessories due to differences in heights etc..

Thanks for all the help! I'm thinking of buying a donor engine to rebuild and then swap and rebuild the old one.

Teksid blocks were 96-98, and 99 but some changes in 99.

Good read on them here http://www.mre-books.com/sa82/sa82_1.html
