95 Cobra transmission
#1
I recently purchased a 95 Cobra. The previous owner had replaced the transmission and bellhousing with one from a 93. I have found a 2000 transmission and have the original bellhousing.
My question is this: the 00 transmission has the built speed sensor where the 95 uses a speed sensor in the speedometer cable opening, are the signals the same and can I just wire to the 00 sensor.
Thanks for any help.

The 00 is going to be a T-45 tranny which is designed to bolt to a 4.6L motor. Your car being a 5.0 based car and using a T5 as the stock tranny will probably not allow you to use the newer tranny. It probably will not bolt up at all as the bellhousings are different.
One good thing about the T5 setup your car has, the bellhousing and tranny are seperate pieces as where the T45 is all one piece and a PITA to work on. You could find a older t5 tranny and just replace that part and the bellhousing should mount up. Also you may want to check out D&D Performance as they sell t5 rebuild kits and you can make the T5 much stronger than a t45 ever thought about being. http://ddperformance.com
