9" or 10.5" rear wheels? Opinions please.
Hey guys I just wanted to get everyones opinion on rear wheel size. I'm leading toward 1 over the other but I wanted to "poll the audience" 1st lol.
Ok, I have an '02 Mineral Grey GT and I'm going to get a set of 17" Black-chrome Bullitt wheels/tires from AFS. They have a set of all 4 wheels at 9" wide....BUT for only $145.00 more I can get the staggard set of 9" wide for the front and 10.5" wide for the back. I included pics of both sizes.

It depends on if you want to be able to rotate your tires, and if you are going to be doing any drag racing. I would go with the 10.5s in the back for the extra traction, but if your car is a daily driver you may want to consider the 9s all the way around.

yea it's a daily... I don't race, i'm thinking about it for looks basically, (filling out that wheel-well). I can always get non-directional tires so they can be changed from side to side, wich is what comes with the package currently.

Needs to be more Astony
even with 9" all round some people opt for different width too. like 245 front and 275 or 285 rears. which makes it impossible to rotate too.
Doesn't make sense to get 9" wide rims and only use 245s all around and there is no need to have 285's in the front... If you are not planning on a 500hp daily driver i say save the money and get the 9" all round but do a 245 front 285 or whatever fits in the back .

I am trying to make the same decision for my 2004 Grey GT. I am considering getting 9's upfront w/ 275/40 tire and 10.5's on back w/ 315/35 tires. For me it is primarily for the look of the big meats on the car. But one thing to consider is that there are not many choices of tires in the 315/35 size tire, and most are expensive drag radials with low tread life. Currently the only tire I have found in this size is the Sumitomo HTRZ for $99 (at TireRack). The next tire up from these costs $169 each and all the others are over $200 each. Using 9's w/ 275/40's all the way around gives you more tire options as well the ability to rotate, which may be a better approach for a daily driver. Just something to consider.

I went with the 9's all around. The wider look in the rear is nice, but overall the 9's were a better choice for me personally. It'll be easier on me and my wallet when I need tires again lol. I ordered them saturday, I can't wait. I'll post pics once I get them on. Thanks to those who gave thier input
