4.6 Cobra vs Mark VIII 4.6
Wanting to know the diffrents between the cobra 4.6 and the mark VIII 4.6?
I bought a 1994 Mark VIII for the engine so I can put it into my wifes 1997 GT.
I was wondering what I would have to do for this to interchange with her sohc 4.6 manual trans.

it should be able to hook up to the manual tranny. The difference between the MK VIII and a cobra is, they have the same heads, intake is different. Exahust cams are different, but intake cams are the same. I dont think it has a forged crank like the cobra either.
yeah what he said. definitely will need a new intake. air filter on wrong side. though you could really mess people up at shows with it on the wrong side. i think the MK VIII was rated at 280 HP also
I don't know what you paid for the Mark VIII, but you could of bought an entire BRAND NEW engine and 5-speed manual transmission assembly for about $5500 straight from Ford Racing Performance Parts. That also includes brand new alternator, power steering pump, AC, basically the entire engine, plus computer, mass air meter, hose, etc...
Hey guys thanks for your replys.
Kn7671 I only paid 150.00 for the mark I have been doing some homework on this interchange and found that after some up grades and getting the motor installed it will run me about 2000.00 and put me well over 300 hp. Remember this is for my wife LOL I can't have her car faster then mine can I ??
