well i just got back from test driving a 99 performance red gt. its the special 35th edition with the leather inserts, honeycomb and black stripe. its also got the mach 460. its a 5 speed with 61000 miles. the owner wants $9900 for it but i really wasnt looking to spend more than $9000. he doesnt want to take less because he still owes $10500 on the loan. the car is in great condition and has a k&n cold air intake.

what are your thoughts on the price? the blue book doesnt have a special category for the value of the 35th special editions. thanks

I dont think 35th anniversary adds that much more to the price really...

ok im attaching a pic of the car. its got the 99 cobra wheels on it i believe. they said svt on the center cap. they look like chrome in this pic but really they are more like alloy in person.

blue book and edmunds seems to rate this around 8500-9000 in good condition although that doesnt take into account the special anniversary package.

any info would really be appreciated...im thinking of offering 9500 if my insurance quote for the car isnt too bad.

www.nada.com does have seperate values for the "Limited". The option was an additional $2600 over original invoice. That considered, a "Limted" will bring in at least $1000 more than a standard GT.

current values on "Limited"

1999 Ford Mustang Grand Touring
2 Door Coupe (*)
(*) 35TH ANNIVERSARY LIMITED EDITION MODEL

FOR SALEEN MUSTANG MODELS, SEE "SALEEN" LISTING.

Low Retail Average Retail High Retail
Base Price

$11,200 $13,475 $17,225

TOTAL PRICE $11,200

 Jason is absolutely correct. You are getting a very fair price at $9900. A vehicle like this will be worth some serious money in the future. This particle car was one of only 1,555 made. You can try to get it for $9500, but I have a feeling the owner is going to stand his ground. He probably knows he can easily get $9900 from either you or someone else. Plus the vehicle is about 11k under what average mileage for that vehicle should be. Good luck

Just for example, I have the same one as your looking at. "Limited" GT/perf. Red/all the goodies....I have just over 56,000 and wouldn't take less than $10,000 for it. But, alas its not for sale..

hmm thanks a lot for the advice guys.

i just gotta go check on the insurance to put me in this car...this could potentially be a dealbreaker since i have a feeling its gonna rise a lot for me since im under 25. even though my family has a TON of discounts for good records and a lot of other stuff.

if the insurance isnt too bad then i would call him and offer 9500. thats really about as high as i can go...and thats stretching it a little.

thanks again, ill keep you updated.

Good luck. maybe he'll take your offer. Glad to see your looking into insurance first as most never consider that when buying a "fast" car.

well i just checked into insurance...not quite as bad as i had thought. i had been paying about $2300 a year and with the gt i would be at about $3000 a year. still a substantial increase...but not quite as bad as i thought it could have been.

i might call tonight to offer 9500...ill have to talk with my parents about it.

btw...a car cover is included in the price.

honestly i would have preferred the stock 35th se wheels over the 99 cobras but whatever. i still like the cobras over the stock ones so i can certainly live with them if it means getting this car.

I'm sure you can find a set of the 35th wheels also. They are quite difficult to find but certainly worth it. Good luck I really hope you get the car, it will be really nice to have another 35th owner among us

If the owner was smart, he kept them. But then again you never know

I never understood why anyone would replace their "Limited" wheels AND not keep them.

StangFan, Good luck! Hopefully the owner has the other set of wheels.

Thats always puzzled me too. They weren't available on any other Mustang and they are hard to find. Why even change them too. They set the car apart!

Another 35th "Limited" owner!!!

be sure to register your new ride at www.mustang35th.com I know you registered in the forums, but by registering your GT, you can find out what day it was built and what number of 4,628 it is.
Btw, I'm the moderator over there(VOORHEES)
-J

btw, Like I've been saying all along, even at $9500 bux. Thats still about $1000 more than a standard GT would bring. Glad to see the "Limited" does better than what others have said.
