The car runs very well with 182172 miles on it. I am not the original owner I have recently got it last year. The transmission it slipping but I plan on getting it rebuilt next month.

yea I would rebuild or better yet as Steven said get a different engine all together.

Not to jack the thread. But what is the difference BTW the explorer 4.6 and his mustang 4.6.

Your motor is right around 215hp or so. If you do get a new 4.6, make sure you get PI 4.6. Better heads and intake.
I say just rebuild yours and do a PI swap on it. That will net you a good amount of power. More then a 5.0 would give you unless you do h/c/I on that as well.
