1995 Mustang GT SVO
In the local auto trader where I live there is a 1995 Mustang GT 5.0 Liter with SVO Racing Package. I was wondering what this was? Does it have more horsepower than a regular 5.0 Gt. Also It has an Auto Transmission and only 86,000 miles and it is priced around $6,500. Do yall think that this is a good price for this stang or it the SVO Package just something they threw in the ad to help it stand out.

Its not an official factory option, and I've never heard of it on a 95 Mustang either. In fact, I belive SVO designation was last used in 1986 and SVT was used later.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.

pretty sure youre correct jeffrey...
id double check on this car. there are always idiots who misprint or write the wrong info about a car. could be that is a 85 instead of a 95...or its not an svo at all.
the other day in my local paper a vw dealer listed a used 00 v6 mustang and listed "fun, FWD, looks great!"
i felt like calling and telling them that if they had a front wheel drive mustang in stock it was a rare car indeed.

Nope, some of the performance parts were still sold as svo parts up until just a few years ago. With the release of the 1993 cobra, the cars were sold under SVT. However, the SVO division of Ford Continued to operate for many years after that. releasing perfroamce parts. The SVO division was then renamed as FRT (Ford racing technology) and later both of these were changed to what is now FRPP, or Ford Racing Performance Parts. You can even buy an SVO supercharger for the early 4.6 mustang gt's just to give you an idea of how long the svo division continued after the the special edition cars were released under the SVT name.
I remember reading about a package like that about 10 years ago in car and driver or something. It was called the SVO GT40, it was like a $3000 package that had GT40 heads and some other stuff that i cant remember. Supposed to give sopmething like 60-65hp to help against the LT1 Z28s.

the guy probably bought SVO side exit exhaust side skirts and graphics along with some other ground FX and called it a SVO.
