I'm trying to help out this girl I know who has a 03 cobra with 16,000 miles on it.So will give as much info as I have.She said it does this only every so often I can not get it to do it when I drive it so can't describe it myself.Anyway she says it makes a loud sound like she is dragging the muffler or something she has got out and there is nothing dragging or hanging under car and also sometimes it makes a loud squealing sound aswell. She babys the car and has never hot rodded it.I'm thinking maybe one of the springs has come loose on the clutch plate.The gears change fine except going in reverse. Any Ideas also If you know any good shops in Clearwater Fl that could help.Thanks

 

dunno about the draggin sound. as for the squealing sound, when does it happen? if its at idle and then stops when you depress the clutch, it is more than likely the throw out bearing. my mach was horrible with this problem

 

the squeal definitely sounds like the throwout bearing. dragging sound? not a clue

 

Thanks for the replies....Well she took it to a shop and they said the throwout bearing was bad due to the rod that was bent.The shop showed her what a good one looks like and she said it was bent bad. They even had someone operate the clutch while they were under car so she could see what was making the sound.Since I drove the car I want to put a supercharger on my 06 now.
