03' Cobra or 06' GT???

I need an opinion from you guys, My friend has an 06' GT (alloy grey) fully loaded with a 5 speed and 25k on it mods include (borla cat-back, K&N cold air kit, chip and tune). He wants to trade me his car and $5000 for my 03' Cobra! Should I do it? My car has 10k on it and a couple minor mods (K&N cold air kit, throttle body, chip, pulley,B&M shifter, IRS brace, bushings). I have always loved the look and overall build quality of the new 05-up stangs, but my car is rarer and a lot faster... I figure my car will be worth more in the long haul but at the same time i really do like his 06'

Go with what you want to drive. You can make an 06 GT plenty fast as well. Take that extra 5k and supercharge it. you will definately like the way it handles, and the interior is also sweet. If you are in it soleley for speed keep the cobra. my 2 cents..

DONT DO IT!!!!! just think about it.

2003 Mustang Cobra with a supercharged 4.6l 4v V8 producing 390 hp!!!

2006 Mustang GT with a 4.6 3v producing 300 hp

dont get me wrong, but do you know how scared people get when they hear cobra?

I agree with Faber. Take tat $5000 and throw on a blower of your choosing. You could end up with 425+ at the wheels, which would smoke your cobra. Then you have the advantage in speed, handling will be on par with the cobra, interior is much improved in the '06, and you have a really good looking car!!

do not do it. 5 years down the road the GT will be worth about 8k and the cobra will still be around 15-20k

I am scared of cobras too. They spit venom in your eyes. bite you and kill you. I highly reccomend against hanging out with them.

NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ....

It's not worth it. How many 2006 models do you think are out there that have less mileage than your Cobra ... LOTS OF THEM !!!

Tell him thanks but NO THANKS ... and to scour the internet and other advetising forums for a low-mileage Cobra.

That is my SOUND ADVICE to you.

I wouldnt do it. Like Chris said, in 5 years youll be able to pick up an 05+ for chump change.

but like every other time someone asks, im sure you already know what youre gonna do.

Ditto, although the extra $$$ could make the GT fast .... it really boils down to what you 'want'.
I wouldn't.

Thanks for the feedback guys, i'm still debating... My car dynoed at 430rwhp last summer, so im quicker than most blown GTs... I gotta admit the major reason why I'm considerin the 06' is its ride, and handling. His car will do circles around mine in the twisties but his car kinda feels slow compaired to mine in a straight line... I'm gonna have to think about this one for a few days but right now i'm leaning towards keeping the 03'... anyone else has an opinion let me know thanks.

Take that 5K and upgrade your blower to a WHIPPLE and you'll be pushing massive HP with forged internals...... Do not trade that COBRA. YOU will seriously regret it in the long run.

I see you have a 97' GT, trade that for a newer mustang.....

It's hard to trade in a 97' GT when it is worth next to nothing. No offense to anyone here with a 96-98 GT (since I am one of them)... but these cars are so undesirible because of the difficulty modding these cars. If you look in a Mustang magazine there are no valuable aftermarket parts for the non PI 4.6s. It is far more cost effective to buy a 94-95 GT with a 5.0, spend the extra money for a 99' or even buy a fox over the 96-98' GTs. I don't mean to bash on my GT but it is not a mod-friendly vehical. On the other hand this GT has been the most relible car I have ever owned.... EVER! (more reliable than my 87' GT or even the small recalls on my 03' Cobra) I have owned the car since 2000 and have not had to make a single repair outside of usual maintenance (brake pads, battery, oil changes). That being said the car's sentimental value ( car i've owned since high school) is worth more than the $5000 i'd get for it, despite that fact that the car is fully optioned, fairly low miles and in excellent condition....

The Cobra is wicked, if you do it up right.
I would not trade or sell that Cobra.
Change the S/C and see what happens.....

Nobody has pointed this out yet, but there's a reason your friend wants to trade you his 06 for the Cobra if you catch my drift

Honestly, I would keep the Cobra. If down the road you really want a S197, put a little cash aside and buy a used one.

Obviously the choice is completely up to you and whatever makes you happy is the right decision, not our opinions. But since you asked, I really think you may be making a potentially regrettable decision since the Cobra has so little mileage and it is a limited production vehicle.

Good luck in whichever path you take!

Keep the Cobra. There are suspension mods that you can do to make it handle better. Once the Vette is paid off, my next vehicle is gonna be an 03 or 04 Cobra. When I see a GT, I dont think twice about it because there are so many of them, but when I see a Cobra I almost break my neck trying to see it.
