V6 Dual exhaust question

I just recently bought an 04 V6 Roush. I thought the side exhaust would be louder then what it was, as I had owned a 00 Roush before. I looked under the car and noticed that the previous owner had the Y pipes removed, which at first I thought was awesome. Until I saw how they had it done. There is no cross over pipe at all. The pipes run directly from the Cats to the mufflers. I thought these cars needed an H, X, or Y pipe to balance out the exhaust pressure or something. Am I looking at engine/performance problems with this set up? I am thinking of taking the car to Midas or somewhere and having them weld in a cross pipe.

I appreciate the help!

FWIW, I had a Flowmaster cat-back on my 2000 V6 (technically, it was a y-pipe back). When I got my car dynoed, the shop said that my car made more power than someone that they knew with a "true-dual" exhaust (ie-how GT's are).

How mine sounded: it sounded similar to-but a little louder than-a factory 99-04 GT. And I was happy with this, as it wasn't obtrusive or annoying.

Out of curiousity, was the 2000 roush that you heard a V6 or a GT, because that would make all the difference in the world in terms of sound. An upgraded exhaust system on a 6 cyl will never sound like an upgraded exhaust system on an 8 cyl

I don't imagine any engine problems caused by this but certainly performance loss. Get yourself an X-pipe.
