im not sure if it'll help your car at all but horsepower increases you'd really wanna do a dual exhaust, pref a true dual ( h pipe ect ), cold air intakes and exhaust arent really big power adders they just help your motor breathe better which will lead to better hp gains once you do other parts

I hope you like carbon monoxide

considering where the mufflers are on the FOX mustangs, I'd be more concerned about exhaust fumes.

I don't think it'd be too bad. I drove mine a few miles to a friends shop to use his lift with no muffler or pipe. It really wasn't as loud as I expected. As far as horsepower, I saw in one of the V6 bolt on articles a while back (either 5.0 or MM&FF, can't remember) that they got 10 HP and some torque by running it with the stock Y pipe and no muffler.

Water wouldn't really be a concern. Your oxygen sensors are all in the Y pipe and headers, so the muffler pipe wouldn't change anything as far as wires go. The only reason I would recommend against driving with the muffler and pipe off would be because there are no hangers to support the Y pipe, so all the weight is on your headers. Not sure, but that may cause cracks.
