Time to buy.
Time to buy.
First, let me apologize if this isn't the correct place to ask for this. I'm still a noob here, heh.
I'm close to purchasing my first Mustang, but I've got a few options to choose from.
1. http://car4sale.forkstorberlin.com/c.../10574754.html
2. http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...5&aff=national
3. http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...5&aff=national
4. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false
5. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false
I'm just not sure which one I should go with. I like the GTs a lot but I'm not too sure of the MPG especially since gas here is about $3.11/gal (I know they're V8 and this is the V6 section but I didn't want to make two topics asking the same thing). The silver and red '02s are what I'm leaning toward currently but I'm not sure whether the mileage on the silver one is something I should be concerned about.
Any advice, mates?

I'd get a V6 unless you're planning on racing it (don't flame me GT dudes, follow the reasoning) if you're getting it used there's a chance that it could have been driven pretty hard & you don't want to have a car payment and repairs too. Don't get me wrong, GT's are great but under normal driving conditions the V6 will keep up with it unless you totally decide to go nuts with it--you can always supercharge it after paying it off if you feel the need for speed. I've got an 05 V6 & paid the note off 2 years early and still have $ left to have fun with the Mustang club gang while saving up for the 50th anniversary model. It's just a matter of trying them both & deciding which one you'd rather have in your garage.

The only thing I'm slightly worried about with the GT is the MPG. Prices here are at about $3.11 and I really don't think I can afford that much gas, plus the insurance (18-year-old male going on 19). But if the gas won't be a problem I most likely will get one of those GTs.
Ive got an 02 gt and youd be surprised how good the gas is. It aint no fusion hybrid but 26mpg highway and 16 (i think) city is actually pretty good for a v8 of its time. As long as you drive economically (ex. Drivin more than 5 over, quick starts from lights, tailgating, etc.) youll be surprised howmlong a tank will last you. Im 17 and i live about 32 miles from the naval base i work at. Including the drive to and from school i can make a tank last just about a week. Im a lil biased but get the GT, you wont be dissapointed
Correction: 18 city

I have 3.90s and still get over 22 mpg highway and 18 city... And my foot is heavy. I got a lol better then that on the highway with the stock gears but a lol worse in the city. I rate this in smiles per gallon anyway

I'm thinking this one.
I'm just wondering how many miles overall a GT can go if maintained pretty well over the years. 200,000?

I have identical car...other than different hood. The 2v engine if well maintained will last to 300k so don't let the mileage scare you. Go and drive it hard. Tell the dealer you want it for a weekend so you can get it to temp, rev it up really good. Listen for any ticks and knocks then report back and we can see if we can help from there. A mustang isn't a mustang without a v8.... And I get better mileage with AMSOIL 0w30 so when you change oil, plugs etc use that. Trust me. I have tried them all.... Check the oil for a gas smell. If yes then there is fuel getting by the rings and that isn't good. Fuel in oil can be from excessive idling but check it as soon as you get it then when you take it back....

In fact that looks EXACTLY like mine when i bought it! I regret gettin rid of those rims

Your paints in better condition than mine was tho. Oh and be prepared.
"Black isnt a color, its a part time job"
Its well worth the effort of keepin her clean though, a nice black new edge is a head turner out of the factory, toss some tasteful mods and itll be a neck snapper

I'll see if I can get the car for the weekend. I don't know if that'd be possible, though. I wouldn't even know how to bring that up. Haha.
I don't know if this was directed at me, but this'll be my daily driver if things go right, otherwise I'll still have my '06 Corolla as well as this. My mum has the title in her name and won't give it up for a Mustang (typical parent, no offense to any parents here), and I don't have any credit so I need to find a co-signer; in essence, this leaves me with the Corolla and the 'Stang. :/

The solid rear axle can really rear its ugly head on bumpy roads but its pretty comfortable around town. I would reccomend the h&r super sport springs as a necessary mod. It lowers the car and makes the ride quality worlds better! Plus an intake and borla stinger s-type catback exhaust setup. Thats about all youll need to have the perfect cruiser. Sound mean, look sexy, fast enough to shut those pesky ricers up

Plus thats how i started with the mods. Lol
Yeah, I'll look/ask around for those. Anything to make the ride better. It's winter here now and the roads are pretty snowy although we're pretty good on the plowing. No ice, fortunately. That's a big factor as to why my mum won't let me trade in the Corolla; says I can't drive the 'Stang in the winter so it'd be useless. But I say a good set of winter tires, weight in the trunk, and careful driving makes the difference there.
I just want a good, fast ride that's not terrible on MPG, and a sexy look... and the New Edge just seems to give that to me here.

Yea the new edge in my opinion is a great platform. Right outta the factory theyre not too bad, maybe compared to the 2010+ but still, i love it. Get it lowered, get that exhaust/ intake and youll be gettin increased mileage, that perfect stance, and lots of stares. Get a staggered wheel set-up, black out the car, and get a red led light similar to the on on KITT from nightrider and you sir will be the envy of your city

It'd be **** awesome, though. You got any estimates on how much you're suggesting would cost (aside from the red LEDs)?
