Hi! First off i would like to comment about how great of a forum this is. Now maybe somebody can help me with my questions. my grandma bought me a 2003 mustang for my 16th birthday. my uncle bought it for her at a ford auction in kansas city. i was wondering since it is a MY2003, then why does it have the MY2004 hood and wheels. it also seems to feel like it has a little more under the hood than my ex's mustang even though both are supposed to be completely stock. it was also never titled to any one person, but to a ford dealership in michgan. could this possbly a show or prototype car?

P.S. - i can try to attach some pictures possibly tomorrow, i would do it right now but its raining and my sister would kill me if i screwed up her camera.

The hood didn't change from 2003-2004. I'm going to need pics before I can comment on the wheels.

Your hood is different than my 02. Yours is flat while mine has a fake vent thing. I think those wheels started showing up in 03 though.

I think I'm just basically confused...all of the mustangs that i have seen around town have had the half scoop that was built into the hood...i think that looking around the internet that i have found out that my mustang isn't weird, just nobody in my area ever bought a 2003 model...

Is the hood COMPLETELY FLAT? Or does it have a backward facing black rubber strip with a indentation running back towards the windshield? If the latter that is the old 02 Cobra rear facing scoop that started showing up in late 03. Its what is on my 04 and is, I think , the classiest 6 hood to date. Just know the hoods on the 1999-2004 sixes changed numerous times. When I bought my 04 there were three 04 sixes on the lot and all three had different hoods.

I have checked my half dozen mustang books and some online sites. Ford as not issued a flat hood for the 99-04 model years. If it is really flat, you either have a special factory order or (more likely) a custom hood which may hint the car has been repainted as well.

The wheels are what I have on my 04 and they started appearing late in 03 and though the car may seen 2004ish, its not as evidenced by the lack of a 40th anniv. badge on the front quarter panels.

Nice ride by the way.

no...its got the backward facing scoop..that's just the best picture to show that...the actual picture that i have looks ten times better than the one that is in the post, for some reason the scanner didn't like me..anyways, does anybody know of some quick and easy mods that can be done without having a whole lot of mechanical skill and aren't really expensive

Cool-that is a sweet hood. Its actually not as difficult to wash as you would think. I actually think the front facing scoops are more of a pain actually.

Anyways-nice car and congrats.
