does it make a difference as to whether you put on a CAI first or a dual exhaust?

basically my question is which should come first?

also any other v6ers out there with an opinion as to which dual exhaust setup I should go with?

thanks in advance guys. you all are great.

No it doesn't matter. I'd do both at the same time, but then again that's just me. Go with Flowmasters, with the 2 chamber mufflers, cuz they sound decent. You're not going to get that much power, but you're engine will be breathing better with duals and CAI. If you want to gain a little more HP, then get some MAC long tube headers. Good Luck w/ your install!

dont go with flowmasters...they give a good sound but are the worst muffler when it comes to power. Magnaflows give the best horsepower numbers and have an awesome sound at 3Krpms and up. Also spintechs are goood

Hey SlamMan02, I just noticed you are in Austin too. I might have seen your car on the on the streets already. What color is your Roush?

I'm a new member to MustangSource (but have been a mustang geek for years), and I noticed your questions about dual exhaust and CAI installations. I've installed both on my car, and it really doesn't matter which goes on first, but if you do one, you should definitely do both to get the full benefit of letting your engine breath easier. I happened to put the exhuast on first, and I noticed more power increase from this mod than from the CAI later.

As far as what exhaust system to install, that's all up to what your budget is, and what you want from the system (sound, look). The point of putting duals on a V6 is to let your engine breath easier post-ignition. Everybody has their own opinion of what is best, but there won't be any noticable difference in horsepower gains from one system to another. Who can really feel 1-2hp anyway? If you're going to install duals though, I would suggest a true dual setup rather than a bolt-on, y-configuration system. I would also keep the size to 2.25 or smaller, unless you're planning on real HP mods to your engine that will take it above 350hp. I would avoid systems that are 2.5 - the dramatic decrease in back pressure will considerably effect your low end torque.

I hope this info helps. Have fun!

hey pony ride, thanks for the info. one question, I see that you have the gt take off duals, how do those sound? I am looking for a kit that will give it a nice deep throatier tone.

I chose the GT take offs because they deliver a nice mellow tone (not a lot of drama). After I installed the CAI, the tone got a little more throaty, which made it sound even better.
