New Mustanger'
B) Hey all, I have recently purchased a 40th Anniv. Black Mustang...I love the thing, however, I can tell the exhaust needs to be added...anyone, anyone with suggestions
I am thinking maybe duals of BORLA? MAGNFLOW? FLOWMASTERS? I am soooo, lost on this, which sounds the best on our cars?
What else can we do to help those 193HP ponoes gallop a littel better?
Thanx,
Abel

I've been told to check
www.mustangexhaust.com <-- check my spelling
They have different setups on different Mustangs, and how each sounds.
K&N Filter......air intake cheap under $200 ways to boost the ponies.

K&N filter and what kind of air intake? It's late, so pardon me for retart ?'s here, lol.
I know I will get a K&N filter, and replace the stock one soon...I also remember hearing about removing the silencer on the GT's, do the 6er's have one? Can we take them out?

I'm not familar with Domestic cars, but doing that to an import car made it illegal. So common sense says it's probably both ways.
Something about it takes away the emission and CO(carbon monoxide...not Colorado) filters, and it makes more decibels.........causing noise pollution. Think of a Harley Davidson motorcycle.....those things get pretty loud. This might be the same or worse in loudness. If your doing exhaust work you'd probably want more of a rumble......than just an annoying loud sound anyways.
Basically removing the silencers would make it more of a pollutant and louder. Therefore making it street illegal. On the imports it would never pass a state inspection, and I would guess the same is true on domestics.

get you a fenderwell cold air kit. and i would go with borla's v6 dual conversion kit. more expensive. havent heard of it causing it to fail emissions. all their kits carry a CARB number so they are emissions legal. just besure and keep all your paperwork to prove what you have on there
What is the BORLA dual conversion kit? It is true dual? What kind of sound do they make...on mustangexhaust.com...I can't really make too much justice to which has what!?
also...
...Does Bassani have a low growl to it...or is it an annoying LOUD sound all the time?
Another question, when I do get duals...will I need a new Back bumper? Will I need one with the holes already cut out? If so, isn't this gonna cost an arm and a leg?
EDIT: 2 BIG QUESTIONS HERE:
1. For duals...am I gonna hafta have a new rear bumper with holes cut outs for the exhaust? And I mean for any exhaust set-up I go...I want to have 2 outputs, not ONE puny one.
2. Which K&N filter should I get...I was looking at back topics on stangnet.com, and there were 2 diff ones. One was a blue-ish color apparently and then one is a basic color of original. Which one should I get for my car?

I thought the v6 had zero cut-outs.
I've read about other guys putting a v6 bumper lowering the exhaust pipes to imitate a Roush.
So I think making cut-outs or switching bumpers isn't needed. Maybe just lowering the pipes, of course you have to trust the people doing work on your car.

Does anyone know any good sites that tell how much an exhuast system is? I wonder if it is more expensive to get side exhaust...wouldn't have to worry about anything then...can this be done to 6er's? It would make a nice touch...and good makers for these?
it converts it to true duals. two mufflers and two tail pipes. it comes with second part of the y pipe. they cut off your pipes from behind the "Y" from the headers and after the cats and the rest is replaced. last i check the kit was like 900. their kit is pretty expensive, but it is worth the money. or you can get a catback for a gt and have a muffler shop make you a "Y" pipe to connect them. and most people have them mounted to where the pipes stick out under the rear bumper
Densecharger There is a really nice cold-air intake for mustangs. I would recommend getting one, they're only about $90 for a v6 and there are some decent gains. They also use a K&N Air Filter so you wouldn't have to worry about buying your own.
Side Exhaust Also, there they have two different side exhaust styles for a v6. However it's pretty expensive.

Look close, dual exhaust, and big ones at that.
I've picked on Boomer (just for fun) but it's a sharp 6 banger.

I don't think anyone answered you question about that silencer... so I will, since it was the first mod I did. The V6's have pretty much the same intake as the GT's.... so yes they do have a silencer and it's pretty easy to get out... takes about 5 minutes. As for an air filter... K&N's can be expensive sometimes... so you might just want to get an entire aftermarket intake.
There is one on sale over at www.mustangtuning.com for $75... which is a pretty good deal.

Yeah, air silencer removal doesn't do anything for the six's. I'd try the C&L 73mm MAF kit, as the stock MAF has a big ugly post in the middle blocking airflow and it's better than cold air kits. It comes with a big **** K&N. If you have an automatic, I would certainly suggest getting an aftermarket chip. It will let your engine go to redline before shifting instead of cutting off at around 4500 RPM. As for dual exhaust, only thing I can really recomend is to go stainless. Also if you're looking for a deeper sound, a cold air kit or the above mentioned MAF kit makes a noticeable difference in your engine tone.
