Carbed would be alot easier since you dont have to worry about the wiring. Swap should be fairly straight forward then.
Only thing I think you would need to change would be motor mounts.
Eventually, if not right away your gonna want to swap the rear as well with an 8.8

What are your ultimate plans for the car? Drag, street, road racing , etc?

Not trying to change your mind about doing the swap, but if it were me , I would wait on the swap. I have a 99 V6 and chose to go the suspension route first; lowering springs, shocks and struts, subframe connector etc, and I wouldnt have done it any different.
I will say, dont jack up the rear please, get you some lowering springs and some wheels and the car will have a really nice stance. Otherwise it would look really retarded.

Im lowered 2 in and run 315's in the rear so dont think you need to raise it to fit bigger tires.

Crate motors are new motors, that have never been run. They are brand new, whereas junk yard motors are not and really should be rebuilt before put in the car.
But like I said, don't quote me on the price. Its been a number of years since I looked at it and I could be very wrong.

For sure.
One thing you need to think about is what your eventual goals are. Do you want just a stock 302 or a built 302? Do you want to stroke it? Go forced induction? O
None of that needs to be done right now, but it would benefit you do get some sort of idea so that you don't need to redo things in the future.
