Carbed would be alot easier since you dont have to worry about the wiring. Swap should be fairly straight forward then.

Only thing I think you would need to change would be motor mounts.

Eventually, if not right away your gonna want to swap the rear as well with an 8.8

Stock would work. I could go on and on about upgrading suspension and whatnot though.

What are your ultimate plans for the car? Drag, street, road racing , etc?

bein to cool for school... im in highschool and during my early years of school i wasnt very cool but now bein a sophomore im making up for it i will be a junoir or a senior when i do the swap though gotta get some money for an engine and yes i am mechanically inclined enough my dad has been a. mechanic for 30 years hes 51... and so my basic plans for the car are to just swap the 3.8 for a 302 to get the sound and power everyone will be looking at me when i pull up in school.. and posibably some racing also i want to jack the rear end up so it will have that stance to it

Not trying to change your mind about doing the swap, but if it were me , I would wait on the swap. I have a 99 V6 and chose to go the suspension route first; lowering springs, shocks and struts, subframe connector etc, and I wouldnt have done it any different.

I will say, dont jack up the rear please, get you some lowering springs and some wheels and the car will have a really nice stance. Otherwise it would look really retarded.

I do, they already look like a 4x4 stock so I would want to raise it anymore.

Im lowered 2 in and run 315's in the rear so dont think you need to raise it to fit bigger tires.

I still say dont raise the back, but if your set on it, just get some springs and lower the front only (or you could cut a coil or 2 out of your stock springs)

Im sure different yards are different prices. I would call you local one and ask, but I would say probably around the 200 mark, maybe 150.

Typically there's no special price for motors from a junk yard, they are all prices the same regardless of what they are. There is also no guarantees on their condition and whatnot.

Crate motors are new motors, that have never been run. They are brand new, whereas junk yard motors are not and really should be rebuilt before put in the car.

But like I said, don't quote me on the price. Its been a number of years since I looked at it and I could be very wrong.

For sure.

One thing you need to think about is what your eventual goals are. Do you want just a stock 302 or a built 302? Do you want to stroke it? Go forced induction? O
None of that needs to be done right now, but it would benefit you do get some sort of idea so that you don't need to redo things in the future.
