1998 v6 Remote Start?

Whats going on my sn95 family. So I have got a wild hair and was thinking about a remote start for my 1998 v6, manual transmission. I cant really find any good, current information on what product to use let alone if this is possible. Everything I come across is from 6 plus years ago and if would like some current up to date info if anyone has any.
Thanks in advance

Not sure if a manual should or ever can be used with a remote start? Just imagine if it is left in gear which most manual drivers always do. Go to start it up and your car is in motion because you left it in gear.

Do not put that thing on the manual car. That way lies cars driving themselves into lakes. The ONE TIME you forget the car was left in gear, start it, and off it goes, wandering around, and there you are, still inside the house... you go outside... "dude, where's my car?"

The car, meanwhile, has had an interesting adventure into a tree down the way.

Just say no to manual cars with autostart, it's just not worth it!

Truly, it has happened. The car into a pond/lake. Guy took his car into service, service did the auto start to bring it up to the customer, the car takes off and drives itself into the retention pond. Dude was mad the service guy used the cool feature to start the car *even though the owner defeated all the safeties* to make it work on his car. Verdict: Dealership wipes their hands clean from this one: Owner fault.

Just don't, ok? We're thinkin' of you!

That said, the 6 year old information is still valid, just get whatever kit you're gonna do and install it. You're still doing to defeat the safeties to make this work, and that's *all* on you at that point. No autostarting box manufacturer is going to advocate you doing this, you'll be completely on your own.

Ok, that's it, enough soapboxing. Good luck and welcome to the forums!

There are remote starts that are made to be used with manual transmission. to use this feature, you must have the car in neutral, parking brake applied, you have to activate the remote start prior to turning off the vehicle, close the door, lock it, then use the remote to kill the car. This sets the car to remote start the next time. Once you unlock the door, it overrides the remote start feature and you will not be able to start it with the remote. The feature eliminate the start up in gear. If you want to have to do this procedure every time you leave the car, then go for it. Good for winter months.

All that says to me that there's absolutely no reason to have a remote start on a manual. It's obviously a bad idea.

I mean, if I have to preset a car *just so* with all this stuff that you speak of... what's the point? All it takes is one out of... *counts stuff*... 6 things to not have the thing 'primed and armed' to remote start. Cumbersome for sure.

Then if one of the sensors breaks/doesn't work or such, we have car in a lake again. And you *know* someone will be 'FRACKING stupid remote start system' and start defeating things because inconvenient and wants toy to work simple like. It will happen. It *does* happen.

Humans. Always tryin' to skate uphill on ice.
