'05 GT wheels on an '01 V6

Got my kid a 2001 V6 and it has the base 15" wheels. I can get a set from an '05 GT with P235/55 ZR17s. Has anyone done this? Do they fit/rub?
TIA
Al

They rub. Get 1 inch spacers and the rub will be gone. Get 1.5 inch spacers and it will look good.

So, if I got '01 17" wheels and put them on and 06 GT, they would not rub, but stick out, right?

/just makin' sure.

they might rub on the lip of the fender

though i remember when the 05s first came out someone with a redfire GT on this board put some Mach 1s on for awesomeness that, at that point, was unmatched...

I have rims off an 06 Gt on my 02 V6. It will rub a little if you turn the wheels all the way to either side. No problem on the rears. No spacers.

I remember there was a good reason why people weren't doing that, but I don't remember what it was. Whoever this is didn't listen to that advice, and put the split spoke 96+GT wheels on, and from what I could see without being invasive, it looked good. He only had them on the rear, though...

The split spoke gt wheels were the best gt wheels that ford made for the sn95. with the exception of possibly the bullitt rims.

again best gt wheel, not considering cobra/machs in this opinion.

Updated question on this.
We bought a set of 2007 17x8 anthrocite bullitt wheels. If I get a spacer for the front, will I need to add longer wheel studs on the front?
I got a great deal on them, so I bought them anyways.

Nevermind! I see what the spacers look like now. Are they safe?

to be clear they only rub in the front and only at full turn. They do sit in a little farther than the stock wheels on a 01 but it doesn't look terrible.

Thanks. I will test fit them. Maybe a 1/2" spacer will do the trick.
