Hi all,

I am interested in supercharging my 1989 5.0 Fox GT. It is relatively stock, but has had the following done to it: B&M Cold air Intake, a year old motor re-build with a mild cam (type 1 cam), underdrive pulleys, two and a half inch exhaust w/ H-pipes, no cats, and flowmasters.
I am wondering if anyone could give me suggestions on what type of charger to go with, the PSI you think my motor could handle/run and what sort of HP and torque I can expect. Any do's and don'ts would be appreciated as well!!

From my understanding, I should look at running 6-12 psi and expect 400-450 HP.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

i am a procharger fan by heart, i'de go with their 2 core intercooler kit and put it at 10psi on a good tune kit price is about $3500

best thing about procharger is its intercooled....meaning more power in a safer package

check RPM outlet they sell the kit pretty cheap

Thanks For your reply

I checked out the Procahrger kit on RPMoutlet.com Seams like they have two styles there for the fox mustang. It looks alot different than the Vortech style that it seams so many people have.
I would agree, intercooled is better, just wasn't sure if I could aford it.

Do you know if you have to relocate the battery to install the prowcharger system? (it looks that way from the pic they have on the website)

This might give you an idea. I at one time had an '89 LX 5.0 with basically a 306 GT-40 motor, long tube headers, 5 sp, same exhaust as yours and 4.10 gears, Vortech A-Trim w/10LB pulley which made 420HP to the rear wheels. Hope that helps.

other than the added work and money i would give battery relocation a thumbs up...even more weight ontop of the rear wheels to aid in your traction

You should do a turbo. 8 psi will give you 450 rwhp.

another good thing about the hellion turbos is that they make awesome power, although they are very pricey, as for the blowers- It looks as if u do have to relocate the battery for the procharger kit, the procharger is far superior to the vortech, especially since it comes with an air to air intercooler in the base kit and a self contained oiling system.

For the low boost you are planning to run, I do not see the need to spend the money on an aftercooler. I have both Vortech and Paxton, I have had no problems with either.
