Ran the 1/8 for first time
I bought the car a month ago, and it feels fast to me, but I really don't have much to compare it to. My intentions are occasional open track, and spirited poker runs, but I wanted to "see what it would do".
The car has some mods, but is still speed density. I'm running BFGoodrich POS tires, so hookup was a bit tricky. I ran half a dozen times, experimenting with different launching techniques. Ended up running a best time of 8.99 at 80mph. My 60' times were around 2.2.
Now it's time to concentrate on suspension and get this little guy ready for Road Atlanta in August.

Rear gears are SVO 3.73 with girdle.
Other mods are Cobra intake, GT40P heads, Crower 15511 cam, shorty headers, 3 inch Mac Pro Dump exhaust, MSD ignition, 65mm TB, K&N, 3 core rad.
My next mods will be caster/camber plates, bullitt springs/shocks, lower g-force brace, mass air, and start replacing rubber with poly.
I'll keep the interior original, as well as the AC, cruise, pw, pl, etc, cause it all still works.

If I remember correctly, the 87-88 speed density cars were a hair faster than the later mass air cars, because the cams were a little more aggressive. Not buy much, but I believe it was in MM&FF in an article years ago.

Well I got my Maximum Motorsports Camber/Caster plates, and some Bullitt springs/shocks/struts, ready to bolt on tonight. Also got some Performance Friction Carbon Metallic pads, and a lower g-brace to stiffen up the K member. My track tires should be mounted to my spare wheels by Wednesday, so I hope to have it back on the ground by Friday. I'll take a picture and post it here.
Road Atlanta is August 14-15, and it's gonna be a blast.

Hey Mark,
I just went to the Huntsville Dragway last night and improved my time a little. My best time now is 9.399 for the 1/8th. Considering this is with my 87 Mustang GT Hatchback which has no engine modifications yet I don't feel to bad. Plus I also have the same spinning tires issue at launch with the street tires. 60ft times are killing me!
Actually, I am now running consistantly in the 9.4-9.5 range. I am now comtemplating my next mods to hopefully get me in the low 9's high 8's. Watch out here I come....hehehe. I am not sure if I am going to target suspension or engine mods.
Any suggestions?

Straightline stuff is okay. You and I need to visit the next autocross event in Huntsville. The twisties are the fun part. Then you need to come down to Talladega Gran Prix Raceway Open Track Event in November to watch. It'll make you wonder why anyone would want to setup for dragracing. B)
Update time for you Mark.
8.87@81mph at Huntsville Friday before last.
K&N filter, snorkel removed, Hurst shifter, 266lb. driver(there's a 10th right there if you were driving my car)
