Quiet(er) Mufflers for my mustang?

I currently have Pypes violator mufflers on my GT and I went to take it in to get an inspection sticker yesterday. The place I took it also inspects my truck, and previous mustang and se-r's I have owned in the past, also with loud exhausts. Unfortunately, the same place is contracted to do all of the maintenance on the RI State Police cruisers. Sadly, while my car was being driven into the bay to get inspected, two troopers were in the facility waiting for their cruisers to be finished.... consequently, they heard my car and asked the owner of the place if the car was going to pass inspection with it being so loud.... basically, they were insinuating that it should not pass. Hence, the guy cannot give me a sticker until I quiet the car down significantly.

To conclude, I didn't know if anyone has a setup that isn't too loud that they would recommend...I am simply looking to replace mufflers. I wasn't too worried about this inspection problem until I got a five day tag a couple days ago for my sticker being expired.

I have Cherry Bomb "Turbo II"s on mine, and while they're nothing spectacular, they are on the quieter side, and at $30 a piece, lifetime warranty... I got a pretty good deal

I think flowmaster's "delta flow" mufflers are supposed to be quieter also

Is there a Rhode Island state law that limits vehicle exhaust to a certain decibel? Here in PA there is no state law but most municipalities have their own ordinances about loud exhaust. The only time I see a state cop pull someone over for loud exhaust is when theres some other law violated like disturbing the peace or reckless driving but they don't actually get a ticket for the exhaust being over a set limit.

the state police get their cars serviced there, and the owner (who is friends with my dad) said there were two that were picking apart the car as it sat in the shop last night when they were waiting to pick up their crown victorias...with the state as small as it is, combined with the fact I probably am the only one with a white fox Mustang with my last name as my license plate within a 15 mile radius, I would rather have the car be quieter and put cats on it so if I get pulled over I am legitimate.

With that being said, anyone looking for a set of stainless steel pypes violator mufflers with less than 400 miles on them, let me know - I'll sell them cheap LOL

I have been looking at the dynomax super turbos online and cross referencing on youtube, they don't seem to be nearly as loud....anyone have any experience?

Couldn't you just buy a set of cheap, quiet mufflers, swap them in for "test day" and then put back the previous setup? Sounds like those troopers were GM guys...

I dunno, is there a shop in your area that sells exhaust pipe reducers? IIRC, the stock exhaust pipe diameter should be 2 1/4"???

Well, I ended up finding Dynomax Super Turbos that were the right diameter....I am putting my car up on the lift at my dads shop to swap them...the dimensions are identical to the Pypes Violators...but the decibel levels are much lower.
