Hey guys, just gauging all of your opinions on a 408 stroker, turbo carbed engine? Im thinking of getting a stock 73 351w, boring it and putting a 4 inch stroke for a 408 with an all forged bottom end (crank, rods and p istons) with an 8.5/9:1 compression. A custom turbo cam from comp cams, vic je heads and intake and a Holly blow through carb. What do you think it will make for power just on the motor? How do you guys suggest tuning a turbo carbed engine? What kind of power can I expect to push with Some good boost? And finally, suggestions on trans? I was thinking either a built C-4/C-6 with a manual valve body and a trans brake. Im planning on dropping this all in an 87-93 fox with a built 31 spline 5-lug rear end. I've got the full turbo kit already. Im thinking a $5, 000 budget for just the motor is a reasonable goal, $2, 000 on trans and a good $2, 500 shell. Thoughts?

 

I'm looking at putting a 351w in my fox but I'll be going efi myself. From what I've read though, changing out the top end on the 90s 351w can net you around 450-500hp if done right. And thats natural aspiration. First things first though, the fox's weren't the most stiff unibody car, and with increased power comes stiffening the frame unless you like driving a pretzel. Frame connectors are a must, wouldn't even be a bad idea looking at caging it. Just my 2 pasos!

Don't be that guy, a 5.3 and S480 backed to a T400 will put that car into the 8's for about his budget assume he can do his own work.
