power shifting?
Hold the pedal to the mat and yank the next gear without letting off the gas. You can either use the clutch or not it will in gear either way. Well most of the time anyway. I know my old car 2nd would go and you would have to slightly let off the gas in 3rd to get it to go.
...and its a REALLY great way to destroy your transmission if you have a stock shifter and have never done it before
. Trust me, before even thinking about attempting this do yourself a favor and buy a good shifter like a Pro 5.0 or Kirban
Real easy to bend the shift forks in a T5 doing this...

Real easy to bend the shift forks in a T5 doing this...
Shift with the gas on the floor, but still push the clutch in quickly. The tach must not move more then 500 rpm during a shift for it to be a real powershift or "speedshift"
Always use a Pro 5.0 shifter they rock.
My uncle powershifted his stock 91 and never broke a thing.

It's also a good idea to have a rev limiter installed... besides messing up the shift forks on the tranny and blowing the tranny... IF you over rev the engine by missing the shift or holding the clutch too long you will BLOW the motor! :bang:
Power shift can maximize your times. I always did mine with a factory shifter in both my 90 and 91s.
I installed a shift light to go off about 3-400 rpm before my desired shift point.
When the light flashed on I would push in clutch at same moment pull into 2nd gear and release clutchwhen about 3/4s way through motion into 2nd gear.Third was little more difficult as its a longer throw with factory shifter thus would need to hold clutch down a little longer. Shift light flashes push in clutch, aim shifter for radio location just as feel a little nudge on upswing release clutch pedal. My trick was position yourself in seat where when you shift into third your arm is about 99% at full extension. This helps plant it into third the toughest gear on the speedshift.I missed a few shifts in beginning. When I first did on lonely street I started at 3,000 rpm to learn foot arm movement then gradually upped the rpms to my shift point.
I miss those days
One of reasons looking to get another for the drags in Lebanon Valley NY this summer.

lol got to admit that those stock universal joints and trannys sure could take an abuseful beating. i know this doesnt really apply, but while on topic, if you decide to make your fox drag ready, and you beef up your motor, and use slicks, dont forget about your axles. Ive seen an axle shear apart on take off, beacause of too much traction and power without the proper axles. It isnt pretty, luckily no one got hurt, the car just lost the drivers side wheel, as the axle was shattered. It spun around countercockwise, and stopped.
