Ok here's the list. I'll post pics later(my batteries died, santa shoulda got me some)

Wow, I think that's the cleanest 2.3 I have ever seen! Very nice man.
Some of the parts are already in my car at the shop so im gonna post manufacturer pics

I hafta admit I don't know much about automatics
Tho. I have replaced a torq converter and a few seals.
It sure shifted better tho
ever so silent I could barely hear it.
The bad thing tho it still leaked a bit of fluid on the exhaust
Not sure why? I replaced the back seal.
Did have the tail housing off and now suspect that big rubber grommet may should have been in housing instead of on shaft.
Just don't know ..........

I didn't at first either, but I am now determined to learn a lot more about everything on a automobile other then just the engine and sound systems. One day I plan on opening a shop and do some on-the-side mods and such.
Now I know quite a bit more about automatic transmissions and can maybe help some others with problems they may have.

Something else I do know about them is when they get old there is a thing on the side called a vacuum modulator. When they go bad they will $uck transmission fluid and they are not suppose to do that.
In one case it caused my freshly rebuilt motor to smoke real bad.
I first blamed a water leak but when its 90 plus degrees out side you CANNOT see steam.
My parts man suggested that I mearly pull off the rubber hose to the vacuum modulator at the side of tranny. And if it dripped red fluid than it was definatly bad.
Boy was he right .
In another Mustang it never seemed to smoke. But, rather about every month or so it needed tranny fluid.
Plus it never dripped anything on the ground
It too dripped fluid the instant I removed the hose.

Kind of like what they had for Carburaters years ago.
thus I guess an old fart like me could most likely tackle on my own a auto tranny rebuilding.
I mean heck, I have reringed and rebuilt my own motors several times now
302 Ford twice, 2.3 Pinto and Mustang, Chevy 283 and 350 Buick twice and one Datsun.
Plus I rebuilt standard trannys twice.
Never really tackled a Automatic tho?
I mean shucks, how hard can a tranny rebuild be?
Is there anything I should watch for?..........
And where would a reasonable rebuild kit be found?
Auto Zone?
Oreileys?
Napa?
I am certain a tranny shops would laugh at me if I were to ask about where to get such kits..............
I'm sure you could do it yourself. I bought all the parts I wanted and just gave them to the guy to put together. I mean, my garage is heated so I could do it in there. I guess I jus didn't want to be bothered with it. Plus I just swaped the engine in my Probe GT, so I figure I know a lil of what I'm doin, and I'm about to go back to school next week so I won't have time.
Anyway, these parts are not your your local Autozone buys. The Super Servo is a special order part (unless you have a Trans Parts Plus nearby, I had to drive 22mi) cost $150 and is made of billet aluminum on a C&C. The "Blue lined" clutch/plate hiney. is $208 and is more of a racing clutch as opposed to the "Red lined" and "Kevlar Lined" which are less agressive. The torque converter is a "midnite special" and is like $396. The friction band isn't all that expensive though ($30 for the Kevlar compared to like $14 for OEM) Most of my parts I ordered from TCI Auto minus the torque converter.
I wouldn't trust the local Autzone or Murray's with parts for my tranny though unless you can get parts like Superior, Raybestos, Trans-Scat or Trans-Go, but I doubt it. I would go the TCI Auto or Trans Parts Plus route. TCI has performance transmission parts for almost every make and model trans; they even have shifters. Trans Parts plus also carrys a stock of most parts other places wouldn't.
