good news: i founr a 78 ghia 302 auto in the junkyard. theres also an 89GT w/ a 83 HO motor and AOD (i think) going back tomoro to take what i want, but i have a few Qs (again)
bad news: i dunno if everything will all work

1. since the 78 is an auto (C4 right?), do i need a new driveshaft?
2. if i went with and AOD, would i need a new driveshaft? would either of the driveshafts from the foxbody or the ghia work for the AOD? also would i need any other mods for a an AOD? also, which tranny do you recommend? i prefer AOD for that extra gear...
3. do i really need the V8 ghia's springs? will my car rub the ground if i dont?
4. will seats from an 89 fit my II? they're not original, some really nice aftermarket leather racing seats
5. since im replacing a 171 V6 with a 302, do i need a new fuel pump? will the one from the 89 or 78 work?

if theres anything else i didnt mention but you think i haveent thought of yet or you think i should know about doing a swap like this PLEASE let me know!

i REALLY appreciate all your guys's help!

also posting in the II place...

I recommend the C-4, it is stronger and lighter. THe 89 seats will fit, but they wouldnt directly bolt in.

1. C4 is gone
2. AOD has an extra gear so i dont think ill do that.

btw, anyone know when ford first used the AOD in lincolc continentals? cuz theres this early 90s one that i think ill take the 302 out of. its EFI now, but ill just sell that maniford and the throtlebody and get a carb and intake for that.

but when did the AOD first appear in lincolns???!!!

yeah, id go with the AOD just b/c you get an extra gear for OD. and i dont know if the C4 is and lighter or not. they are supposedly stronger. but there are plenty of people make alot of power with the AOD. i would think you will need a different driveshaft

actually, since whe wheelbase of the II is diff, a V6 shaft from a II fits the AOD 5.0 combo pretty well, or so says the AOD swap guide for IIS on mustangii.org...

and the motor and AOD are home, came outta a 90 lincon continental

thats gonna be a bit lol. first i need motor plates installed (again, someone wanna lend me a welder? or weld some stuff for free? )

then a V8 radiator
carb/intake
fuel pump
full exhuast system (i think im going shorty heads (cuz fulllength no fit) and then go with chelby side exhaust n have it exit behing the rear wheels
spacers (to fit in 225/60/R15 up front and 245/60/15 out back, or something close to it)
a new shifter (yeah, forgot to pull that off the old tranny lol
and like ten billion other thingies that i havent found out i need yet, but hey, its funner then blasting down a metal slide on your mountain bike!

oh did i mention paint. yeah, thats gonna kill me....

I think the stock II wheels will look better than the 10 holes
Oh, and you do know that the motor you have is NOT an HO right?

i know its not. but there are some upsides, the exhast manifolds arent clunky and chunky like most, they look a bit like after market headers, even though i know they are not (i mean, its a lincon for cryin out loud)

and about the wheels, mine a 13 inchers. NOT good. try finding h/p tires in that size. 15 inchers is definately better, and i actually kinda like em.

oh and even tho it aint an HO it no matter. its going to eb a very special BOSS 302 (aka "clevor") i wanted to do it with a 315, but couldnt find what i wanted for the right price, so this is just as good. plus 302s are lighter, which is a plus in a car of my size. except the thing is, im using aluminum aussie 2V heads rather than the iron 4v heads on the old boss. the reason is the 2v is better @ low RPMs and the 4V excells in the high RPMs. and i dont think i need to explain aluminum heads lol. oh and did i mention a set of $v heads would prbably run me what i paid for the car? lol

im also give EFI a shot with a MegaSquirt setup or something similar. im working on making a fuctional ram air system on an ectra hood i found too. im also hoping for a 347 kit.
but first things dfirst i need to get a carb intake and motor mounts (i found a dude who's starting to make em again) and get that puppy in there. oh and friggen rad n exhasut :bang:

its gonna be tough but it'll be worth it in the end. plus its an awesome learning experience. i recoment a project like this for every guy my age. you learn quite a bit really fast (but by no means am i an expert, wont be there till im like, old :P )

Umm, okay. But when u first drive the car dont go off thinking all 5.0s are slow stock because the stock HO mustang is a quick car. Just wanted to make sure you werent expecting a rocket ship, lol.

Good Luck

i know its not slow when its stock and i know it aint no rocket ship.....yet

i also know its more than enough to blow the doors off any ricers i meet.

and i also know that once my boss is done (i think ill do 331 not 347, for longevity, thx andy n scott n svopaul!) it will leave NASA in my dust. them moon buggies aint nearly as fast as they think

i know that my plans are ambitous, but i need to be. i have a blown big block chevelle, a 360 dart, an SRT4 and an 85 vette as my list of competitors. and being the only ford guy i know, i have to win the power from a blown boss 331 is nothing to shake a stick at (yeah i think ill go with the regular EFI setup, just need the wiring and ECU from a fox first, thats reasonable cheap. n then i can be the first dude to modify my EFI intake for cleveland heads lol.

and plus, i;m not a very good loser, and we cant have that

You wouldnt believe it, the stock 5.0 s such an incredible car, my uncle was beating stock vettes with his stock 91 back then, it was amazing. the car should be a true collectible.
