Check ebay, corral, and any other mustang message boards. For low budget power, you cant beat the $ per hp of a nitrous kit. They can usually be had used for $300 or so, and new from $500 to $600

Gears are fairly cheap (under 200.00) and if you know someone who can install them for ya for little or nothing (friend) you got it made! Any clue what gears you're running now? Might be a place to start until ya find a blower....Gonna need some other things to go with one anyway...

also check your local classifieds. NJ and michigan are big on stangs. bet there are plenty of parts. gears, exhaust, CAI, pullies are a great place to start on the 5.0

how much money do you have to work with becuase if you got anywhere from 500 to 1000 dollars you can get a nice exhuast system
for $1000 i got my 3 inch mandrel bent cat back sytem for my 87
you can really free up some air flow maybe pic up an intake of ebay or a cold air induction get some air in and out easily other than that the gears are a great idea
