Mustangs vs I-Roc Zs
Ive raced many I-Rocs some are fast some arent but ill tell you this ive beat most of them i live in a small town called oscoda in michigan we dont have any tracks here the closest one is about three hours from here but there is an old airbase here that closed down about ten years ago so we will take scaners out there and drag on a old air strip this guy i know has a 86 I-Roc and we raced one day he was convinced he was going to smoke me so we lined them up about seven times and i beat him every single time he was so pissed he just wanted to keep racing so i did and he left very disapointed, i know my car very well i dumped alot of money into my 90 lx and i love my stang and i would never give it up. mods i got gt40 intake and manifold,gt40 heads,70mm edelbrock throttle body, bbk cold air,bbk shorty headers,x pipe, under drive pulleys, black magic electric fan,373 gears,flowmasters,75mm mass air meter, sub frame connectors, after market cobra rs.
Welcome to the site man.
Good to hear, about keepin the bowties at bay.
I haven't been able to line up with an Iroc yet, but I always see the same one prowling around. Some day...
And why wont you mods let poor little Rob become a GT member. It could be his Christmas present. Sucks to be Rob.

WAs the car that you raced a 5.o or a 5.7? My father had a 5.7 and he sadly beat everything that came in its path exept for a few Vettes. He raced an 88 Gt 5 speed and killed it. I hate I-rocs.

stock for stock i believe the 5.7 could hang w/ the 5.0 but the 305 couldnt touch the 302!

Stock vs stock, the 5.7L Camaros were faster. However, every 5.0 I owned save for the '86 were modified heavily so in my confrontations, I almost always emerged victorious except for one instance involving a missed shift :bang:
I owned an 85 IROC-Z with the Tuned Port motor, had it for two years. I raced a number of Mustang GT's and Capri 5.0's, and usually won. I'm not totally convinced the Mustang and Capri drivers were all that good though, and they were all pretty much stock. One odd thing I noticed often was the guys with the caburetor equipped cars always flipped their breathers over...which just let a bunch of hot air into the engine. I always just scratched my head when they did that.
The fastest car I raced of the Mustangs/Capris was an 86 fuel injected Capri. That guy got so mad cause I could get him out of the hole almost every time but when he went to shift first to second his car always "jumped" like a car length and caught up to me until the end of the quarter and I pulled ahead of him from then on out. One night we raced he went to shift out of first and blew the transmission...man did that sound ugly. Anyways, the 85 5.0 IROC's were more powerful than any other year IROC with the 5.0, and with good tires could run with the GT's and Capri's of the time pretty closely. There weren't all that many made in 85 though, I think a little over 21,000, and some had the 190 hp L69 5.0 and some had the base LG4 5.0. It was a fun car, had a great top end (over 140 mph) and tires that wore down quick and cost a fortune (in 1985 anyhow). I miss it from time to time, but would I trade it brand new for my 03 GT? NO FREAKING WAY!!! The Mustang rules!! I do like the second generation Trans Ams alot though, I wouldn't mind having one of those as well as my GT.

3rd gens were good handling cars, nice 3 link rear with a panhard rod, just kinda heavy and hard to mod. Wasn't 86 the first year for fuelie f-bodies? I remeber an 86 IROC with a fuelie 305, it was mass air (I dont know if GM had a california car like Ford did with the 88 mass air cars), but some time after that I think GM went to a speed density system.
IMO the best of the breed (aside from limted ed cars like hair dryed trans am and the early firehawks) were the 1LE F-bodies or the B4C cop cars.
Man Ford was a day late and a dollar short when the introduced the 95 R model. What would it have been like if they would have put the 351 in the stang as an option???? Well I know what it would have been like, bad hiney, but I digress.
