ok ... here is the situation i am in --- i was giving a 1985 mustang notchback that has a little bit of damage to the bar above the radiator, now can i replace that bar or should i just save up some cash and buy another mustang ? I would really hate to get rid of this stang if that bar is the reason -- the bar is bent in far enough that i do not know if i could hammer/bend it back out.

what would you do ? here is the only picture that i could find to help explain a little --- i believe it is this bar, but it is the bar above the radiator ....
if anyone has another picture, or could take a picture of their engine compartment and i could circle which bar it is......

so please ... any help would be helpful -- thanks

Edit - I found this picture off of ebay and this is the bar is needs to be replaced (i believe, I will take a look at the car tomorrow and see)

I would have this posted in the Fox Generation Page on this Forum. Hopefully one of the Mods can move it over for ya. They'd be able to answer more of your questions for you

I believe that it can be replaced. Look for a radiator core support and see if that matches it. Im pretty sure it can be replaced since we replaced the one in my brothers focus.

EDIT: I just went and looked at our 93 and it looks like it can be replaced. You would have to remove the fenders and the front bumper to acess it. As for it being the radiator sore support that is what it is. Good luck.

EDIT2: Here is what you need.

That is the core support and as pictured above is a much larger piece than just the "bar". Do not try to cut out and replace the top portion as it is not the right way to do it and will show as a poor repair. This job requires welding and is by no means a reason to get rid of a car. Even my police car which I am driving now needs a new core support which I will replace when I repaint the car. You would be best to have this done by someone who knows what they are doing as well.
